image It was on Tuesday night when my friend Pam from Decatur, Illinois sent me a sad note saying how much she missed Ronald Reagan. “I wish he was here to lead us through these dark chapters,” Pam wrote. Early next morning, Canada Free Press columnist and friend Jerry McConnell sent in the following: “You may have already seen this, but just in case, I had to forward it to you as Michael Reagan mentions you in it.”

Pam would be happy to know that the spirit of “The Gipper” is still here and is leading the Reagan Revolution through his son Michael over at NewsMax.com. And happier still, that a focused Michael has found a way to lead Conservatives out of the darkness! “As Thanksgiving approaches, I find that I have more to be thankful for than ever,” Michael Reagan wrote. “Besides the obvious thing we all have to be thankful for—living in the United States of America, the greatest country the world has ever seen—I’m also incredibly grateful for your support for my new activist website for conservatives, ReaganAction.com, which has now gone LIVE! “As Canada Free Press editor Judi McLeod has noted, “Not only is it making huge waves of hope in contemporary political circles, ReaganAction.com is energizing grassroots conservatives and giving them new reasons to believe. “It’s a bonus side effect that the zippy new site is driving the “loony left” back to their antacid and the Kool-Aid jug. “Look out Pelosi, Reid and Obama! Just when you thought the coast was clear, here come American patriots in droves. Americans are snapping out of it and getting ready to take back what they call “the greatest country on Earth”. Because of the impressive response to his new site, Michael Reagan does not feel alone in recognizing what needs to be done to rebuild the Conservative movement: “We hear the cry of the hearts of all conservatives who love the United States of America and my dad, President Ronald Reagan. That’s why I’ve dedicated this website and my work to leading the way to the New conservatism by building on the great principles of my father.” But the most inspirational thing about Michael’s crusade is how he resurrected his father’s speech of some 27 years ago which proves that the great Ronald Reagan--and not Barack Obama--was first to come up with the “Yes, We Can!” slogan. Michael describes it best: “Many of you probably remember the YouTube video that a bunch of liberal Hollywood celebrities put together during the recent presidential campaign, based on a speech by Barack Obama, called “Yes We Can”. It featured a bunch of them singing (or chanting) those three words, over and over, while Obama gave a speech that seemed full of “hope—but was really just full of platitudes and empty dreams. “There was another man, 27 years ago, who gave a “Yes We Can” speech—the original “Yes We Can speech—that truly DID inspire Americans to achieve the dreams of their forefathers. That man was my father, Ronald Reagan.” Michael Reagan wanted the message out for this Thanksgiving! “You can watch this YouTube by selecting here. Even the story about how the YouTube came to be in the worldwide net is an inspiration. It was put together by a user who calls himself “eaglephin”, who Michael says “is obviously a great fan of my father”.
In the words of “eaglephin”, “It takes more than a pretty video and a bunch of celebrities singing to make a great president. It takes a person who understands where the true greatness of America lies. “Long before anyone ever heard of Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan challenged Americans to hope, to dream to believe… in themselves. He brought change. He told us “Yes we can”. Except he also told us we didn’t need government to do it. He inspired us with his words and his actions. He showed us that our individual liberty and creativity is what makes our country great not any government program… In the YouTube, you will hear President Reagan say at his first inauguration on January 20, 1981, “There are those that say we live in a day where there are no heroes. They just don’t know where to look.” One of those heroes was to be his son Michael, who today proudly calls himself a “Reagan activist”. Those who can help Michael make the surge that will put the Reagan Revolution over the top, can join here. Barack Obama may have helped himself to the words of Ronald Reagan like so many others did. But Ronald Reagan’s son has put those words back within context. And for all the Pams in America, he did it in time for Thanksgiving 2008!
