Inhofe Applauds Gov. Fallin for Remarks on Energy

Washington, D.C. – Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), praised Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin for her Weekly Republican Address in which she said that the energy crisis America faces is not for a lack of energy resources, but rather due to a lack of leadership from President Obama. Video of the address is available here.

“I applaud Governor Fallin for her astute remarks today in Oklahoma City about how President Obama continually undermines energy development in this country, to the detriment of American families,” Senator Inhofe said. “She was absolutely right to say that ‘the energy crisis we are facing today isn't a lack of energy resources; it's a lack of leadership. That starts at the top, with our President.’ “As the Governor of our great state of Oklahoma, an energy state, Governor Fallin knows first-hand the benefits of developing our nation’s immense natural resources. Oklahoma has over 83,000 producing oil wells and 43,000 producing natural gas wells, which support 300,000 jobs and contribute $51 billion to the state’s economy each year. Governor Fallin rightly said today that because we develop our own resources, Oklahoma’s unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the nation; our state is number two in the nation for job creation, and last year Oklahoma had the 4th highest per capita income growth in the United States. In fact, in a CNN recent piece on the pipeline that is to be built in Cushing, Oklahoma declared ‘The place is booming.’ Our entire nation could share in Oklahoma’s success if we could just stop President Obama’s war on fossil fuels and develop our own resources.”
