AIAMC Members Continue to Beat the Market with February Sales

Adams, President, Association of International Automobile Manufacturers of Canada Overall vehicle sales in Canada were down 27.7% in February to 80,230 units versus the 110,951 sold in February 2008. AIAMC member companies sales were down 16.9% for February at 44,673 units compared to last February (See attached). Year to date sales for the industry are down 26.5%, while YTD sales for AIAMC members are down 15%.

Overall light duty truck sales were down 25.2% in February while passenger vehicle sales were down 29.9% compared to February last year. For AIAMC members, truck sales were down 11.1% while passenger car sales were down 19.4% compared to last February. Year to date overall truck sales are down 22.4% while passenger car sales are down 30.4%. For AIAMC members, year to date truck sales are down 8.8% while passenger car sales are down 17.9% AIAMC members’ had a 55.7%*market share for the month of February compared to 48.5% market share for February 2008. Year to date market share for AIAMC members is 54.1% (*AIAMC stats include Jaguar Land Rover for 2009 which were not part of our membership last year) Positive February highlights for some AIAMC member companies include: Audi – February sales of 627 up 8.1% from February 2008 Hyundai - February 2009 sales of 6,912 up 29.8% from February 2008 Kia – February sales of 2,221 up 1.2% from February 2008 Mercedes (less smart)– Record February sales of 1,419 up 18.9% from February 2008 Subaru – February 2009 sales of 1,263 up 8.1% from February 2008 Suzuki – February 2009 sales of 728 up 3.4% from February 2008
