A judge on Thursday refused to find Lindsay Clancy not guilty of murder in the strangulation killings of her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months.
Plymouth Superior Court Judge William F. Sullivan denied a defense motion for a required finding of not guilty. The request, renewed after a hung jury, asked the court to clear Clancy of murder in the children’s deaths at the family’s Duxbury home on Jan. 24, 2023.
The first trial ended in a mistrial Sept. 4.
“The Court finds that the evidence, when viewed in the light most favorable to the Commonwealth and with the reasonable inferences permitted to be drawn, was sufficient to have satisfied any rational trier of fact beyond a reasonable doubt as to the essential element of the defendant’s criminal responsibility,” Sullivan wrote. ---More...
Company Sold Body Parts From Aborted Babies for $765 Each
A company that harvests organs from aborted babies sold fetal livers and thymus glands to taxpayer-funded University of California laboratories for $765 apiece.
According to newly-obtained purchase orders obtained by the Center for Medical Progress through a California Public Records Act request, the August and September 2023 orders from a UCLA lab to Cercle Allocation Services totaled $16,065 for 21 body parts — 14 livers and seven thymus glands — each billed separately at $765. UCLA revised the orders several times at Cercle’s insistence to strip out sales-tax language so the transactions would appear to cover services rather than the actual aborted baby parts.
A Cercle account manager wrote in a September 2023 email: “The overriding issue is the use of terminology that we must not use due to their improper implication that we are selling taxable items,” and “Due to the nature of our business we must be very careful and clear that we invoice fees for our procurement services (untaxable).”
The manager warned that references to “Total Tax” and “Total Price Includes Sales Tax” “would imply that we are selling the items received (which are illegal to sell).” Federal law, 42 U.S. Code 289g-2, makes it a felony to transfer any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration. ---More...
Gavin Newsom Expands Mandate Forcing California Colleges to Sell Abortion Pills
California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a law expanding his mandate forcing every public California college and university to sell abortion pills, even though none of them offer prenatal care.
The new law Newsom signed takes effect Jan. 1, 2029, if the Legislature appropriates funding. Colleges that already operate a student health center must sell abortion pills — on site, by telehealth, through a contracted provider, or by directing students to an off-campus center with follow-up on campus — and must post the abortion pill availability on their websites.
Of 115 community college campuses, 92 have health centers. Campuses without one are not required to open a clinic.
The bill, by Assemblymember Catherine Stefani, D-San Francisco, builds on Senate Bill 24, signed in 2019 and effective in 2023, which made California the first state to require University of California and California State University health centers to provide abortion pills. Newsom’s office listed the measure among new laws expanding the killing of babies in abortions on community college campuses. ---More...
Republicans Fighting Hard to Hold on to Congress as Polls Show Democrat Leads
After the latest polling, Republican strategists must feel an awful lot like Democrats did during Joe Biden’s “Weekend at Bernie’s” debate performance — sick. The lopsided numbers screaming from the latest generic ballots have not course-corrected after a rocky summer, despite the absurd things coming out of the mouths of unapologetically anti-American candidates like Abdul El-Sayed (D). Now, with a handful of weeks until the midterms, conservatives are clinging to the hope that the election forecasts — like the weather — will be wrong. As recent history proves, it’s not entirely wishful thinking.
“The generic ballot can give us a window into the political environment, but there’s no such thing as a generic congressional race,” Nathan Gonzales, editor and publisher of Inside Elections, warned. That’s not to say that Democrats don’t have an incredible advantage at this moment — they do. Even the most trustworthy polling houses say the dashboard is blinking red for the GOP heading into the November elections. But a lot can happen in four weeks.
For now, analysts seem to agree that Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’s (D-N.Y.) party isn’t experiencing what the industry calls “an artificial sugar-high” in polling. On the contrary, the consensus is that it’s the Democrats’ momentum to lose. And while Harvard-Harris’s monthly report insists the two parties are neck and neck, other trustworthy people in the business, like Cook Political Report, acknowledged that at least for the moment, Democrats could be on the verge of five to 15 pick-ups in the House. ---More...
Massachusetts Bishop Wants Catholics to Repeal Abortions Up to Birth Law
Bishop William Byrne is urging Catholics to sign a petition to suspend and repeal a new Massachusetts law that allows abortion throughout pregnancy as the state’s bishops mark Respect Life Month by condemning the measure.
The law, Chapter 188, the Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act, passed in the final hours of the legislative session in July and was signed by Gov. Maura Healey on Aug. 10. It is scheduled to take effect Nov. 8.
It removes all restrictions past 24 weeks and permits abortion throughout pregnancy for any reason, including after 24 weeks up to birth for healthy mothers and healthy, viable babies. It also allows killing babies in abortions in non-hospital settings.
“The legalization of a late term abortion where you can have a baby that could survive outside the womb, killed even outside of a hospital setting, is a horrible undertaking in our state,” Byrne, bishop of the Diocese of Springfield, said. “So there is a petition that is being circulated to repeal this. It’s a long shot, but God likes long shots. We have to get behind it so we can do everything possible, but we also have to walk with moms in crisis.” ---More...
