The reality is that Carney is using Trudeau as a media diversion—diverting away from the fact that Canada is in serious financial decline—similar to Carney’s blaming President Donald Trump for the decline, rather than owning up to the fact that it was 11 straight years of Liberal Government misrule that brought this once sovereign country to its knees—and heart-breakingly getting away with it.

“She said that would include calls for the business community, civil society and the country at large to “ensure that we’re all pulling in the same direction in terms of building Canada strong.”

“As a result, and the prime minister laid this out in his speech at Davos, Canada is embracing pragmatic foreign policy infused with our long-standing principles.”

“In a speech in January at the World Economic Forum, Carney said Canada would take a pragmatic approach to an increasingly volatile global environment and partner with other middle powers to resist bullying from hegemons.

“Carney said Canada would still be guided by core fundamental values, including sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the prohibition of the use of force except when consistent with the UN Charter and respect for human rights.

“Although not explicitly mentioned, many saw the speech as a repudiation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to reshape American foreign policy away from multilateralism and international organizations, in favour of using economic and military might to pursue its own self-interest.

“In response, Anand said Canada is changing how it approaches global politics by focusing its diplomatic engagements on how to “build Canada strong and ensure that the domestic economy thrives.” (iPolitics)

“Anand said she also raised concerns about the slow pace in processing permits needed for Canadian mine operators during a recent meeting with the Mexican foreign minister. A week after that meeting, she said she was told the permits had been approved.

“Diplomacy can make a difference,” she said.

“It can make a practical difference, but the ask has to be made, and we are making the asks.”
