Washington, DC-Kim Davis, the Rowan County Clerk standing for natural marriage, will receive a "Cost of Discipleship Award" this evening on the stage of the Values Voter Summit at the Omni Shoreham hotel in Washington, D.C. Kim joins a quickly growing group of people who have experienced such things as the loss of their job, destruction of their business, fines, public vilification, death threats, and jail time because of their support of natural marriage.

Jason and David Benham, who were fired from hosting their own show on HGTV because they believe in natural marriage, will address the crowd at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET and then will welcome to the stage the following people who have been persecuted for their faith:
  • Kim Davis, Rowan County Clerk in Kentucky;
  • Kelvin Cochran , Fire Chief in Atlanta;
  • Betty and Richard Odgaard, the Mennonite owners of a wedding chapel in Iowa;
  • Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers in Washington;
  • Aaron & Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa in Oregon; and
  • Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Phillip Monk.
These people have sacrificed to stay true to themselves and their God and will be a powerful visual image of the religious discrimination flooding our nation under the guise of homosexual privileges. This provides a strong motivation to others facing similar persecution and a reminder that our religious freedoms must be strengthened. Kim Davis will be presented the award later in the evening. Liberty Counsel is the pro bono legal firm representing Kim Davis. The organization's Founder and Chairman, Mat Staver, said "Kim Davis has found beautiful redemption in her relationship with Jesus, and no one can make her compromise her religious beliefs. No government should attempt to force her to deny her faith or violate her conscience."
