It will be very interesting to see how the suit filed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, plays out.

The suit contends that the Department of Homeland Security is violating the Constitution by refusing to arrest certain illegals. They want to block the new program. This is a gutsy move. But it is an issue that needs to be sorted out. We have laws in this country. And we have people who are tasked with enforcing those laws. Here we have the very people charged with enforcement being given opposing orders. And I believe the agents are right. The proper course of action is to amend the law, not to direct the agents to break the law. This President, when faced with his wishes being thwarted by Congress, simply makes his own rules. We have 3 branches of government to provide balance. With these Executive Orders and Department Directives, issues are protected from being checked by the other branches. When one branch avoids proper channels and exerts overreaching authority we are no longer a democratic republic, we are a dictatorship. So, good for the ICE agents who are brave enough to ask, “Is this ok?” Jennie Veary Englewood, FL
