October 23, 2014 Rep. Paul Ryan, 1st District Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner, 5th District Rep. Glenn Grothmann, 6th District Rep. Sean Duffy, 7th District Rep. Reid Ribble, 8th District Gentlemen, I see you have decided to back the existing “Speaker of the House”, ignoring the wishes of the majority of voters as expressed in the November election. As you can see in the following commentary, you either have information the general population does not have, have not conveyed it sufficiently so the masses can understand it or it is faulty logic. (Protecting one’s backside falls in the ‘faulty logic’ category.)

Leading up to WWII, Winston Churchill stood alone more often than not, yet he stood his ground. During the war, he was the solid base the people clung to in their attempt to survive. Following the war, he was tossed from office. Yet, because of Winston Churchill’s stand, England withstood the Nazi efforts to crumble the will of the British people. He was rejected, but he stood tall in the moment he was needed. Read the history of our Founding Fathers following their stand against the crown; poverty, poor health, death, family destroyed, and . . . But they stood for what they believed in and paid the price. If it were possible, I wonder what they would say about their efforts in the creation of the united States of America. I wonder what they would say about their price compared to what the United States of America has become. The two are so different, aren’t they? I know I am just one individual in the midst of 300+ million legal citizens. I also know there is almost no chance you will either personally read this or it will have any effect on the future of our republic. However, I would be neglecting my obligation as an individual citizen if I did not offer my opinion. Here is what I am sending to the people I know. Those who agree, might begin to coalesce into a Republican Party which reflects the Founding Fathers ideals, while those who disagree will ignore or challenge it. That is their, and your, prerogative. Now more than ever, the 65% must work to be heard and take back the Republican Party, which was once the conservative party. A third party is not the answer. It will divide the 'Republicans' and give the elections to the Democrats, as long as the Party is split. Find a conservative in your town, city district, county, state, and work to get them elected, be it dog catcher or governor. The base must be rebuilt to retake control. Tell your representative on all levels, "We will support you as long as you support the ideals of conservative republicanism. If there is a disagreement, bring your contrary opinion back to your base and discuss it. If you cannot convince the base, it would appear your argument is faulty, poorly explained or contrary to the beliefs of your base. Simply put, our support will continue as long as you support your base, period. This is a representative democracy, not a fiefdom." Gentlemen, what course you choose to follow is your choice, of course. It will be interesting to see what that course is and whether the ‘base’ chooses to follow. With deepest respect for you and the position you hold, Sincerely, William L. Beckman
