Light bulb choices

An overreaching government

The whole light bulb debate is the perfect example of everything wrong in America.

We have had perfectly acceptable incandescent bulbs since Edison invented them. They provide normal light and are not toxic to our environment. They do create heat. And, for many years, offices, factories, businesses and some areas of our homes have used fluorescent light bulbs, cooler but not as true color and give some people eye problems and headaches. So, some genius, undoubtedly an advocate of green energy, decided that fluorescent light bulbs would offer an alternative for the people. Okay so far, if it was a good idea the public would embrace it. It wasn't and they didn't. So, it was mandated. Never mind that they are expensive and make everyone look jaundiced, we would have no choice as the old bulbs are being phased out. And, let's not mention the health risks and expensive clean up required if one breaks or the special disposal rules. Remember, they contain mercury. Now, we are being told that the best alternative is LED bulbs at $65.00 a pop. Soon, our 2 choices will be to have unnatural light or wildly expensive light. So, we didn't have a problem and now we do, once again, thanks to an overreaching government that creates more problems than it fixes. Charity Eavey
