Macy’s Christmas Angels

image My search for Italian Renaissance type angels to grace the candle sconces over my fireplace mantle, ended at a splendid place called The Ivy Cottage, in Wilmington, N.C. early last January. Looking for a memento from Christmas spent in nearby Topsail Beach, where dolphins swimming in the Atlantic made my live Christmas Day card, some friends told me about an antique shop called The Ivy Cottage. Were on the way out the door empty handed, when we spotted a solitary angel in the Marked Down section. A clerk kindly pointed out that there were seven and that the entire lot could be had for $9. Turned out that The Ivy Cottage had hired a window designer who does Macy’s windows for Christmas, and the angels were part of the decoration.

Some small treasures are really worth the hunt!
