Meeting of UN Crime Commission to deal with “global crime wave”

VIENNA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice will hold the 18th session from April 16 to 24 in Vienna, to discuss the increasingly severe international crimes.

The United Nations Information Service Vienna (UNIS Vienna) said on Thursday that one major subject of this meeting is economic fraud and identity-related crime. The second thematic issue is penal reform and the reduction of prison overcrowding. The commission will also constitute the launch pad for the Twelfth United Nations Crime Congress to be held in Salvador, Brazil in April 2010.
