Micah, The Little Boy Who Dried Our Tears of Sorrow By Calling Out To Jesus

In riveting heart-wrenching scenes seen in videos depicting the human devastation left behind by catastrophic Hurricane Helene, surely it is this one that transcends them all. It is the story of a little boy, 7-year-old Micah, whose mother Meghan Drye told us “called out for Jesus to save him” when flood waters ripped him out of her loving, protective arms.

“Save me Jesus” is the indelible cry of the soul when imminent death comes to call. It was the cry of Micah, who was tragically swept away by floods that struck Asheville, North Carolina, on Friday.

We can only imagine the terror that struck their hearts when the floodwater rose high enough to force Mrs. Drye with her son and her parents to the roof of their home for safety, before the flood became so powerful it broke the home apart.

However, the flood became so powerful that it broke the home apart.

It was at that very moment, Mrs. Drye said that her son called for Jesus to save him.

The words of Micah’s grief-stricken mother will live in our hearts forever. The words of Micah are now, even in our sorrow, immortal:

    "He reached for something past flesh, past human, past anything that even grown adults, I think, would reach for," she said. "My son called out to the one God Almighty. And I think at that moment he was rescued, and he became my hero, and I think all of them carried me through that moment.” (FoxWeather, Oct. 1, 2024)
    "Micah’s mother “spent three hours in the water, becoming entangled by roots and trees. She said she held on to the vegetation, but something greater told her to let go.”
    "In the midst of the chaos, all I heard was God telling me to be still and to stop fighting the water," Drye recalled. "That was Him, that was prayers. That was prayers that told me to be still and to let the water carry me to where I needed to be rescued."
    "When I did let go, I heard the voice say, 'You still don't fight the water' and then I ended up in between the two carriers that stuck with me the whole time," she said.
    "She was then spotted by a man and then tended to by a rescue team.
    “Micah’s body was recovered about a quarter-mile away from where Drye was rescued. Drye’s parents also didn’t survive the flood.
    "My grief today is unfathomable. I'm sorrowful. I feel broken," Drye said. "But what is the main thing that I take away from grief is the uplifting of all the prayers that I have received.”

In the wake of the storm, Micah’s story truly transcends them all.


In a world where the media gloatingly tells us that the abortion-advocating Democrat Party is poised to win the upcoming Election— echoed in last night’s J.D. Vance/Tim Walz CBS debate, Democrat VP nominee Tim Walz insisted that abortion is a right and not the wanton murder of babies in the womb—a 7-year-old boy did no less than to bring God Almighty back into the Public Square.

At the very moment of our death, Christ appears before to all who die.

Fr. William Saunders: “Each man receives his eternal retribution in his immortal soul at the very moment of his death, in a particular judgment that refers his life to Christ: either entrance into the blessedness of Heaven — through purification or immediately, — or immediate and everlasting damnation” (No. 1022).”

There is no doubt that through all our tears, little Micah is looking down on us from Heaven.

In a world putrified by the propaganda that killing babies in their mother’s womb is acceptable, one little boy who knew otherwise reached out to the same Person Whom we should all reach out to, and, in effect, dried our tears of sorrow.
