Michigan judge has ruled that banning straight party voting would unconstitutionally disadvantage
Blatant discrimination to tell black people by words or by actions that they are unable to function by the same rules as the rest of us
Under the guise of ensuring that black voters have every opportunity to participate in the elections, we are demeaning them and dividing the country.
Take Michigan where a judge has ruled that banning straight party voting would unconstitutionally disadvantage black voters. Isn't this and other similar rulings a slap in the face? Isn't the judge saying that blacks are unable to mark ballots for individuals but only to check the box marked "Democrat".
We've already told them that they are not smart enough to obtain a voter ID card.
I'm embarrassed by these rulings and the message they send. I'm embarrassed that we hold black people in such low esteem that we treat them like unequal humans. They are not. They are equal. And they are equally capable of voting with a full ballot of choices. They are equally capable of getting drivers licenses, Social Security cards, and voter IDs.
It is blatant discrimination to tell black people by words or by actions that they are unable to function by the same rules as the rest of us.
It creates division and goes against everything they have gained over the years. We need to stop pushing them down and instead lift them up. The first step is treating them equally.
