Congressman Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate in the August 3, Kansas Republican primary election

National Right To Life PAC endorses Todd Tiahrt for Senate

WASHINGTON -- Today, the National Right to Life Political Action Committee (NRL PAC), the political arm of the nation's largest pro-life organization, endorsed Congressman Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate in the August 3, Kansas Republican primary election.

In their endorsement letter to Congressman Tiahrt, National Right to Life Executive Director David N. O'Steen, Ph.D., Political Director Karen Cross, and Legislative Director Douglas Johnson noted that Tiahrt has been a "key leader on pro-life issues" who has "fought tenaciously against pro-abortion proposals that have surfaced" in the House Appropriations Committee. The letter also noted that Tiahrt voted against President Obama's massive health care restructuring bill in March. The law will provide federal funding for insurance plans that cover abortion on demand and contains other provisions which can lead to further expansion of abortion. It also contains provisions that will result in large-scale rationing of lifesaving medical treatments. Tiahrt's vote against the bill was his "118th consecutive pro-life vote — which is a pro-life record that very few members of Congress can equal," the letter notes. NRL PAC summarized that Tiahrt's "dedication and skill in advancing the pro-life cause is badly needed in the United States Senate. We believe that your exemplary record of pro-life leadership has earned you the support of all voters who are concerned with the right to life and with the protection of the most vulnerable members of the human family." Founded in 1980, National Right to Life Political Action Committee, the nation's largest pro-life political action committee, is the political arm of the National Right to Life Committee, the federation of 50 state affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters.
