No honor or principle in government

Never before in my lifetime have I feared my government. I've been disappointed and suspicious on occasion.

I've been angry a few times but never fearful. I always felt there were at least a few honorable people in the seats of power. As I watch the reports of the budget negotiations, I realize there is no honor or principle within the halls of the Congress and Senate. No one is echoing the wishes of the ones who pay the bills. Our voices fall on deaf ears. So, yes, I am fearful of a government that has no concern for the public because there are no consequences for their actions. They run free to negotiate self serving deals, to succumb to the lure of the lobbyists, to avoid testifying on important issues, and to trade favors behind closed doors. We are to blame. We don't take the time to write, call, or email our dissatisfaction. We don't have the courage of our convictions. We are afraid we might be politically incorrect. That's why I am fearful.
