It now seems not that many moons ago, when former British PM, aka ‘Little Davey Cameron’ gets to lord it over us all as—LORD—David Cameron.

Cameron, who actually went into hiding when he resigned as PM in 2016 after losing a national referendum to leave the European Union, is today the plum-velvet-pantalooned ‘Little Lord Fauntleroy’ of our day.

“The title surname Fauntleroy is an Anglo-French term ultimately derived from Le enfant le roy ("child of the king"), evoking the image of being pampered and spoiled. More proximally, it is from a Middle English variant faunt from enfaunt, meaning child or infant. It is attested as a real surname since the 13th century.” (Wikipedia)

While the Fauntleroy name fits the former British PM, the too-tight plum pantaloons do not.

In his storied past, Cameron was media-portrayed as Barack Obama’s “bro”.

The bro iteration lasted only until Barack Obama’s self-styled selfie with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt went viral from Nelson Mandela’s 2013 Memorial.

It’s not safe spaces, and no-go zones that society needs but politician-free zones Honouring the dead not in the books of politicians’-(Canada Free Press, July 14, 2016)

“Seeing how presidents, of both the ex and current variety, prime ministers and other ‘celebrities’ elected to public office have nothing but uncouth to put on display at Interfaith Memorial services intended to honour the dead and to comfort their bereaved, isn’t it high time to clamp down on their increasingly boorish behaviour?”

“Among the VIPs, there were no more sincere expressions of respect, sincere expressions of grief and sorrow on that stage than there was in Barack Obama’s self-styled selfie with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s 2013 Memorial.”

Update: Lord Cameron flaunts into Mar-a-Lago:

‘Britain builds bridges with Trump: Donald hosts Foreign Secretary David Cameron at Mar-a-Lago for talks on support for Ukraine, 'admiration' for the Queen and elections on both sides of the Atlantic’-(Daily Mail, April 9, 2024)

“British officials are working to find a line into Trump world ahead of the election’
‘They were taken by surprise by Trump's 2016 win and scrambled for contacts’.
'Warm' Mar-a-Lago dinner with foreign secretary is part of effort to avoid repeat

Warning, MAGA. Cameron is not Trump’s friend. He’s Obama’s bro. Remember?

“European leaders are desperate to secure more aid for Ukrainian forces battling Russian invaders and have identified Trump as key to overturning Republican support. (Daily Mail)
“But at the same time, the British government  is understood to be keen to build relations with the man who might be the next American president after being taken by surprise by his 2016 victory.
“They were joined at dinner by British Ambassador Dame Karen Pierce.
“An insider said it was 'warm' and 'productive.’
'Among the topics discussed were the upcoming US and UK elections, policy matters specific to Brexit , the need for NATO countries to meet their defense spending requirements, and ending the killing in Ukraine,' said the Trump campaign in a readout of the meeting.
'President Trump, Secretary Cameron and Ambassador Pierce also discussed their mutual admiration for the late Queen Elizabeth II.'
Trump is known to be a huge fan of the late queen and has praised her frequently.
“The meeting was a reminder of how the former president used his Mar-a-Lago home when in office, using it as his winter White House, meeting visiting dignitaries on the terrace, brushing shoulders with club members.
“But the dinner raised questions about the protocol of a British foreign secretary  meeting a former president before he met Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington, D.C.

“British officials preempted any controversy by pointing reporters to previous examples when ministers met opposition leaders.
“The pointed out that the leader of Britain's opposition Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, met Blinken in February.
“Cameron also rebuffed the question at Tuesday press conference after meeting Blinken.
'I remember when I was prime minister meeting Mitt Romney when he was a candidate. I remember Gordon Brown meeting Barack Obama when he was a candidate.'
"He offered no further details on what he said was a 'private meeting.'
“Cameron was meeting Blinken on Tuesday morning and was also expected to meet with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
“However, he is not expected to meet House Speaker Mike Johnson, a key figure in moving a bill to send more aid to Ukraine.
"A British official said their diaries did not 'align.'
“Cameron said he had not come to Washington to tell American lawmakers what to do.

Mighty Big of the British Lord.

'I always do this with great trepidation. It's not for foreign politicians to tell legislators in another country what to do,' he said. (Daily Mail)

You can say that again, Little Lord Fauntleroy, but would have to mean it.

'It's just that I'm so passionate about the importance of defending Ukraine against this aggression, that I think it is absolutely in the interests of US security that Putin fails in his illegal invasion.’ (Daily Mail)
“Johnson is almost certain to face a leadership challenge if he tables a bill amid opposition from Trump allies such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“In a recent article for The Hill, David Cameron explained what his country cousins must do to appear civilized in the sophisticated courts of Europe.” (Epoch Times, April 8, 2024)

What his “country cousins must do to appear civilized in the sophisticated courts of Europe?”

Bullocks!

“After all, the U.S. presidency is effectively vacant and the British foreign secretary (and former prime minister) is full of advice for the U.S. Congress. (Epoch Times)
“First of all, the Noble Lord said, the United States must spend money, lots of it.
“The U.S. Senate had just passed a bill calling for nearly $100 billion for various things, including aid to Ukraine.
“That will all be borrowed money, of course, but no matter.
“When you are shouldering a $34 trillion federal debt, what’s another $100 billion among friends?
“Now, said Lord Cameron, it was time for the House of Representatives to stand up and pass his “simple test.”
“You have the power of the purse. Appropriate the money, he instructed.
“Otherwise, you will be like Neville Chamberlin capitulating to Hitler in the 1930s.
“Listen up class. This will be on the test: “I do not,” quoth Lord Cameron, “want us to show the weakness displayed against Hitler in the 1930s.”
    “Gosh.
“I couldn’t tell whether the newly minted life peer thought that the “appeasing-Hitler-was-bad-move” gambit was the only historical reference the rubes from Washington would recognize.
“Another possibility is that he himself, like so many pundits on the world stage today, was utterly captivated by that cliché and so, whatever the crisis, played that movie over and over in his head, starring himself, of course, as W. Churchill facing down the little man with the funny mustache.
“For her part, the rambunctious U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R.-Ga.) was not properly appreciative of the foreign secretary’s instruction.
“For some reason, she did not like to be told that unless the U.S. Congress behaved and did what their betters in Whitehall told them to do, they would be just like those feckless fretters who appeased the Nazis.
“The plain-spoken congresswoman, who has not been to an elite private school or Oxbridge, told Lord Cameron to worry about “his own country” and ended by advising that he osculate her gluteus maximus, though not in so many words.

“Ms. Greene might take some solace from knowing that Lord Cameron was not singling out the U.S. Congress for his interventions. (Epoch Times)
“The state of Israel is also the beneficiary of his wisdom and counsel.
“You will recall that back in October, the Sunni Islamist terrorist organization Hamas mounted a surprise attack on Southern Israel from their stronghold in Gaza.
“They raped, mutilated, and murdered more than 1,200 civilians, including infants and the elderly, and took hundreds back to Gaza as hostages.
“In the past, Israel has responded vigorously to Arab attacks but pulled back when “international opinion” (that’s periphrasis for “U.S. dollars”) said “OK, you’ve taught the Arabs a lesson. Now stop.”
“This time, however, the Israelis seem determined to destroy Hamas and prevent a recurrence of the largest slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust.
“At first, world opinion, appalled by the savagery of the attack against Israel, supported its efforts to extirpate the terrorists.
“But within days, the cry went around that Israel’s response should be “proportionate.”
“What is the “proportionate” response to the indiscriminate slaughter of more than a thousand innocent civilians?
“In fact, the Israeli military has proceeded with extraordinary care to minimize civilian casualties.
“The military historian Andrew Roberts, himself a member of the House of Lords, estimated that the ratio of civilian casualties to Hamas terrorists killed was less than 2 to 1, an astonishingly low ratio for urban warfare.
“Of course, since Hamas has located its military infrastructure alongside, or underneath, hospitals, mosques, and residential structures, some civilian casualties are unavoidable.
“This has troubled Lord Cameron, who recently assured Parliament that he had personally insisted that Israel initiate a pause in its military operations, a hiatus, he said, that he hoped would evolve into a permanent ceasefire.
“The moral, or part of the moral, is that the elites who presume to run the world from their privileged eyries are like life according to Macbeth: “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

Meanwhile, Cameron is one “noble Lord” who should be told in plain English, to stay in his own not-so-noble lane.
