Here's the back story, President Obama is obsessed with closing the facility at Guantanamo Bay.
To date he has not been successful. As his second term winds down, he is resurrecting the idea, in an attempt fulfill his promise.
The problem for the President is that nobody wants those bad boys. He has quietly released a few of the prisoners but 116 remain in Guantanamo. Two of the places being bandied about are Illinois and South Carolina. But, there's a problem. The Illinois facility is off the table because of a promise made by Eric Holder as head of the Justice Dept. Don't these guys communicate?
Didn't we just spend millions giving the prisoners at Guantanamo gyms, and outside recreation, libraries, upgraded cafeteria, etc? What happens to all that? Will we give it to Cuba? Is that the plan now that we are friends?
The people do not want them on our soil and we don't want them set free. The President needs to admit it was a bad idea and move on.
