Our elected leaders kicked the can yet again

I woke up today even more depressed than the morning of Nov. 7, 2012 (if that is possible).

Even though I am fairly well informed on the political scene and in spite of plenty of evidence to the contrary, I held out hope that some true work would be done to begin to solve our financial woes. I couldn't have been more wrong. We have just been served a blow to our pocketbooks and to our belief in truth, justice and the American way. Behind closed doors and at the very last possible second, our elected leaders kicked the can yet again, giving in to large tax increases with virtually no spending cuts. We can't tax our way to fiscal health but apparently will go broke trying. God Bless this beautiful nation. Richard Rock Port Charlotte, FL
