Ugly Betty, a telenova filmed in Colombia, written by Fernando Gaitan and produced between 1999 through 2001 by the Colombian network RCN, features Beatriz Aurora Pinzon Solano, an unattractive--but very brainy woman--working for the Eco Moda company, who is constantly mocked by her prettier workmates.
