“Parents” Who Wanted Surrogate Baby Gabriel Killed in Abortion Get Custody

Gabriel requires immediate surgery to survive beyond the first week and is under the care of a team of pediatric experts

The California couple who requested that their surrogate mother abort their unborn son after a prenatal diagnosis of a severe but treatable heart defect have taken custody of the newborn boy less than 24 hours after his birth in Texas.

McKenna West, an Alaskan nurse and single mother of two, served as the surrogate for Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed of Los Angeles.

At 20 weeks, the little baby was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare condition that requires a series of surgeries beginning in the first weeks of life but is treatable.

According to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who intervened in the case, Gilkar and Ahmed requested an abortion upon learning of the diagnosis. A clause in the surrogacy agreement allowed the biological parents to have the baby killed in an abortion if an “anomaly” were found. West refused and traveled to Texas before giving birth so that she would be recognized as the birth mother under state law. ---More...

America Leads 40+ Nations Declaring There’s No Right to Abortion

The United States will serve as Secretariat of the Geneva Consensus Declaration, a coalition of more than 40 nations that reaffirms there is no international right to abortion and prioritizes protecting human life at all stages, including before birth.

The Trump administration announced the leadership change this week.

In a joint statement released Wednesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Secretariat is returning to the United States after Hungary’s stewardship.

The effort will be led jointly by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of State, with the Secretariat housed in HHS’s Office of Global Affairs. ---More...

Even Some Democrats Slam Maura Healey for Signing “Barbaric” Abortions Up to Birth

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey this week signed a new law that effectively allows abortions up to the moment of birth and has drawn rare public rebukes from fellow Democrats.

The radical measure passed the state House of Representatives 119-33 on July 22, mostly along party lines. Healey, a Democrat, signed it into law this week.

Nine House Democrats voted against the bill.

State Rep. Jeffrey Turco of Winthrop called it “an extremist and dangerous position.”

“To be clear, it allows abortion anytime, unrestricted, and in many cases, publicly funded until the moment of birth,” Turco said. “The new law is barbaric.” ---More...

Maura Healey’s Bishop Should Deny Her Communion for Legalizing Abortions Up to Birth

This week, Maura Healey, the governor of Massachusetts, signed a law removing any constraints on abortion and added strong legal protections for the killers. At the signing, she and several other ghoulish women were absolutely gleeful.

Maura Healey claims to be Catholic, yet she has a history of supporting every issue of grave moral evil that the Church opposes. In lieu of correction, she was invited to the Vatican in 2024 to meet with Pope Francis. She then gave the keynote address at a “climate summit.”

The bishops in Massachusetts did issue a joint statement calling the abortion law “a grave offense against the sanctity and dignity of every person.” But in all honesty, so what?

This is yet another in an endless litany of “strongly worded statements.” ---More...

Idaho Judge Creates Fake Right to Abortion, Weakens State’s Abortion Ban

A federal judge on Thursday issued a ruling that blocks enforcement of Idaho’s near-total abortion ban in cases where a pregnancy supposedly poses severe risks to a woman’s health or creates a high risk of self-harm.

The irony is that killing babies in abortions is never a treatment for women’s health, abortions kill and injure women, and they are linked to subsequent mental health problems like suicide.

The decision will undoubtedly appeal but, if it stands, it would weaken the Idaho abortion ban to the point that it would be rendered useless and unenforceable. The decision pro-life advocates warn could significantly expand exceptions and undermine protections for unborn children.

U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill, in an 81-page opinion, invents a fake right to abortion by claiming that the Due Process and Equal Protection clauses of the 14th Amendment “establish a narrow but fundamental right to abortion when a pregnancy threatens the woman’s life or health.” ---More...
