Paved With Good Intentions

While watching the July 23, 2025, Greg Gutfeld Show on the FOX News Channel, a discussion ensued about “well meaning Democrats.” As I watched and listened, it dawned on me that my father’s old traditional Democrat Party was built on good intentions and well-meaning ideas. That is not to say that all old Democrat politicians were always well-meaning with good intentions. The fact of the matter is some were crooks and even Harry S. Truman (D-MO) identified that reality.

What the Democrat politicians have been expert at since World War II is selling their Democrat followers on a false narrative that their intentions are always good and well-meaning. A great marketing ploy but, in reality, not so much.

The first big Democrat, well-meaning, good-intentioned effort was the Social Security Program, which was designed to help support people when they ultimately retired, never to exceed 1% of a person’s paycheck, and to be held in perpetuity in a special account, often referred to as a “lockbox.” In 2025, Social Security takes 6.5% of a person’s paycheck. Social Security payments are made for all kinds of purposes, even to people who have never contributed, and Congress broke into the lockbox and stole the funds in the 1970s. Social Security is a bankrupt, government run, Ponzi scheme with more money going out than coming in. In other words, it is a well-intentioned program with disastrous unintended consequences.

Let’s look at other well-meaning, good intentioned theories that had unintended consequences like wind generators. The cost to build and maintain wind generators exceeds the income produced without government subsidies. The unintended consequences includes millions of dead birds; disposal issues with broken and worn-out hazardous blades materials. Solar generators using mirrors to heat the generator fluids; more dead birds and hundreds of acres of altered natural habitat. Solar panel fields on thousands of acres of altered natural habitat; there is the same disposal problem of broken and worn-out solar panel material.

When closely examined, many of the liberal ideas seem to have good intentioned purposes. Looking at the first “environmentalist” wanting to protect the birds and the bees, the fishes and the trees, the rivers and the seas, the whales and the seals, and all the bugs, big and small, these were all well-meaning and good intentioned ideas.

These were the young old hippies of today. But, where are they today? Many the formerly “protected species” of the last century are being sacrificed to the “gods” of green energy. The well-intentioned wind generators, solar generator plants, and solar panels farms are destroying the very habitats that were seen as so valuable just 50 short years ago. Once again, just more unintended consequences.

The trouble with the well-meaning and good-intentioned people of the world is that they are driven by their hearts. However, the real world requires full engagement of the brain to anticipate the consequences of any action taken. Good intentions must be balanced with a full assessment of all potential consequences. Now for another example of low hanging fruit to illustrate my point.

The United States Department of Education is an easy target. A well-meaning, good-intentioned idea, or rather theory, that the federal government could run American education better than local citizens. The American Founding Fathers recognized that most functions of government could best be handle at the most local level possible and designed the United States Constitution accordingly.

The Democrat ruling class of the 1970s wanted the power to control education and sold the voters on the good-intentioned idea that standardized education would be better than local control. It was never about education; it was about power and control. One very big unintended consequence was that the number one education system in the world degenerated into nearly the worst education system in the industrialized world. Another consequence is that parents lost control of their children’s educational content. One size does not fit all.

One last well-meaning and good-intention theory to be discussed is communism. Marx and Engels were intending to provide the perfect social system for mankind. Their hearts were in the right place and their intentions were good, but they didn’t fully engage their brains. The Marx/Engels version of communism was designed to be a truly classless society where everyone worked and contributed to their full capacity, and everyone received an equal reward for their efforts. The first American Pilgrams tried communism, and it didn’t work in the 1620s because too many members of the commune failed to work to capacity yet expected to share in the full rewards. That is why communism has failed everywhere it has been tried, and modern communism results in a rich, elite ruling class and the peons who are all equally poor.

President Trump is calling today America’s a “Golden Age.” However, I think something more dramatic and far more important is occurring in MAGA America. For the last 100 years, America has been trying Churchill’s “everything else.” I believe that President Donald J. Trump and his MAGA minions have reignited the fire of liberty and a massive movement back to the principles of the Founding Fathers and the United States Constitution. The Trump administration has already started to divest the federal government of duties usurped from the states and We the People. In the remaining time Trump has in office, he and his team will do all they can to return the federal government back into the hands of We the People.

So far, it seems that around 80% of Americans like what they see of Trump’s actions. For President Trump’s activities to truly pay off, We the People must fully back him up and help drain the swamp in the 2026 elections. We must elect people to Congress who are onboard with Trump’s principles and wish to Make America Great Again. Failure to do this will leave the swamp intact and a return to the massive corruption that has been exposed.

The road to hell is, indeed, paved with good intentions. From 2021 to 2024, America got a glimpse into hell while under the formerly good-intentioned Democrat Party. The Joe Biden ruling class cabal showed us what it is like to live in a police state where the federal government used its full authority against individual Americans. No more, no more!
