PCs Will Launch Judicial Inquiry Into Billion-Dollar Gas Plant Scandal, Million Jobs Plan

MISSISSAUGA, ONT: An Ontario PC Government will launch a judicial inquiry into Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne’s billion-dollar gas plant scandal.

“It is time we had a government that puts your interests first – and not the jobs of the Liberal Party,” said Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak today while visiting the planned site of the Mississauga gas plant. “An Ontario PC Government will strike a judicial inquiry into the billion dollar gas plant scandal. I expect both Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne will have to stand before a judge and testify about their actions.” Hudak noted that the $1.1 billion wasted on the gas plant scandal could have hired 18,000 nurses, purchased 311 PETs or 272 MRIs or provided 247,727 seniors with home care. “This money could have gone to a hospital or a subway. Instead Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne spent this money solely to protect the jobs of Liberal politicians,” said Hudak. “We need to send a very strong signal to any government of any party that this type of behavior is just not tolerated in Ontario. Because if politicians get away with it then it’s going to happen again.” A judicial inquiry is required to be conducted by a judge, who has prosecutorial and investigative experience, which elevates the level of independence to investigate wrongdoing. “If you believe you deserve a government that will put your interests first, that will respect your tax dollars and will put your job ahead of the jobs of politicians, then I invite you to vote Ontario PC and for the Million Jobs Plan,” Hudak concluded.
