Plan “B”

Imagine that. Plan "B" failed for lack of support. Of course it did. Plan "B' wasn't a well negotiated plan. It was a "let's pass something so we can go home" plan. Conservative Republicans realized that past promises to cut spending were not kept and they held the line on requiring identified cuts as part of the deal.

As much as the lack of a plan will hurt everyone, it seems like it is the only possibility of getting the attention of the voters as to what is really going on. Taxes will go up because the President won't identify the spending cuts that would provide the balance to the tax increases. The absence of specifics is the stumbling block. The idea of giving us tax increases today and we'll give you spending cuts tomorrow is a hollow promise. I'm glad there are still principled politicians who don't fall for the ruse yet again.
