Calling on the Almighty is no longer encouraged, or even tolerated in the public schools of our day; a day in which no one, other than God can be acceptably insulted. As despairing as it may seem, the way around it is so simple. ‘Prayer proof’ your little one at home before he/she sets foot out the door..
Start your children's’ day by having them say the best payer possible before leaving the house each morning. The Lord’s Prayer is the best one because Jesus taught it to his apostles when they asked Him how to pray. No prayer could ever be more profound than the one taught us by Jesus Christ. It only takes a few minute each morning to have children recite the Lord’s Prayer before going off to school. Being fortified by prayer at home will make all the difference in the world to children in classrooms where any mention of the Creator has been ‘legally’ removed. In every Christian home, the day should both begin and end with the Lord’s Prayer. How often do adults silently recite the Lord’s Prayer in dark times of trouble? Children taught the prayer can do the same thing, and will someday teach their own children.

Plant the Our Father Prayer in the garden of your child’s heart, the one gift that can last a lifetime. Not only will reciting the prayer keep God foremost in the lives of the small fry, it will anchor and ground them in the steadfast reality known as Natural Law. Children taught to begin and end the day with this simple prayer will not so easily fall prey to the Marxist dictates rampant in public education. In the life of a child, Mom and Dad—at least for now—are She and He. But it is God, who is definitely a He, who assigns gender to each and every child, and the current confusion surrounding gender identity doesn’t stand a chance agains Him. Mornings in households with school age children often unwind at a hectic pace. Before bolting down breakfast, packing lunch in their school bag, running to catch the school bus, how long does it take to pray the most beautiful prayer known in any language?
“Our father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, They Kingdom come, Thy will be done, On Earth as it is in Heaven, Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us, And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil, Amen.”

So many hopelessly lament that prayer is not allowed in most schools any more, having come to the conclusion that nothing can be done about it. Ditto for hymns and traditional Christmas carols for many schools, even though supported by taxpayer dollars. With no one seemingly winning the battle to get prayer back into the classroom, we can no longer trust schools making any significant contribution to the morality of school children entrusted to their care. If schools of the day can’t even teach children how to read and write, how can they teach children how to pray? The bogeyman little children imagine is under their bed after Mama turns the light out, is not the welled-up monster of other generations. Today’s monster, which slithered out from under the bed to follow them through everyday life, is the monster of Marxism, spawn of the devil. Turn the light back on in your children’s bedroom. What better time to start than Advent? Recite the Our Father with your children before they leave for school and before bedtime each night. Don’t wait until next week. Start today.
