Politicians whose egos mislead to win eventually get caught

When I ran for provincial and municipal office there was one rule I had – never lie. A number of other politicians told me to, saying the only way to win was to mislead, obfuscate, and if caught, down play it, making those who question what was being said look irrelevant or foolish. This I would not do, nor would I join special interest groups merely to use people to get elected.

Of course, not being a member of the big parties and not being one of those politicians who would mislead, I did not win. Funny how, when you stand on principle you don’t win. When I ran for Mayor, my belief, and statement, was to bring the law back to my community. This was to ensure staff and Council followed the law, in an attempt to make things better for all residents. For this I was referred to as a “hard-butt,” (got to keep it clean…lol). No, I didn’t win, but I can get up every morning, look myself in the mirror and know that I had not become one of those egotistical politicians that we have a prime example of today.

Carney and the Liberals had a decision to make--tell Canadians the truth, showing that, perhaps he wasn’t such the great negotiator, and really didn’t receive the respect he claimed, or he could do what he did do--mislead Canadians into thinking he, and he alone, is the saviour during this tariff battle.

This all equates to the ego of the person and their failed attempt to make themselves look bigger, brighter, and more opposing, merely to garner votes.

Perhaps the thought was that he, and the Liberal backroom, wouldn’t get caught trying to prop up his questionable credentials, but someone, somewhere, must have known it would eventually come out.

Now he’s trying to push back on his folly. He’s expressing that this is no big deal, when in fact this is a very big deal. Canadians looked to him to be the strong man and that his conversation with the President was a revelation of him, Carney, showing he could extract respect from the President. That was Carney and the Liberal’s mantra – Carney is the only one who Trump respects and in that, Trump respects Canada’s sovereignty.

All this has done is made Canadians look like fools and has betrayed Canadians. This is so typical of the Liberals in government. Arrogance, misleading and lying through omission seems the only way the Liberals, and Carney, feel they can win this election.

It wasn’t until push came to shove that Carney admitted that he would not repeal C-69 the “no more infrastructure” Bill. It wasn’t until push came to shove that Carney admitted that he really isn’t in favour of pipelines and that he (according to Jagmeet) would be cutting health care. It wasn’t until push came to shove that Carney admitted he was going to be using the same platform as Justin Trudeau with merely a few words changed. And with there being the same Ministers (some in different portfolios, some not), candidates and policies as the previous Liberal government, it seems, misleading is the only thing Mr. Carney is good at. So now we all understand it is the same old, same old and until we all demand better that is what Canadians will continue to get.

Arrogance, misleading and lying through omission – we have been made fools of, again, and all because we continue to vote for the same old…and that’s why we all continue to lose…
