Friends, it is absolutely amazing – and alarming – to see the media on both sides of the political aisle focus 100% on Republicans in the Continuing Resolution-Shut Down fight. Does anyone remember the lies, deceit, and dirty deals used by DEMOCRATS in the push for — i.e,. RAM-THROUGH of – the absurdly titled “Affordable Care Act”???
There are hundreds – literally hundreds – of similar headlines pointing to the wholesale and, shall we say, egalitarian damage this law is inflicting on the American people. So, again, why are DEMOCRATS not being skewered?
Well, for starters, the media — American journalists are no longer in the truth business; these days they’re in the brain-washing business. And even “conservatives” are often in-line with promoting false narratives. Why ObamaCare at this point is standing law, let alone a law that nearly 4 in 10 Americans support, is testimony to the power of narratives framed in terms favorable to it.
They say it will increase coverage (it won’t), lower insurance premiums (they’re screaming higher), and improve care (60% of doctors say they may retire early), and these talking/selling points, disproven though they be, aid the law. Add government schools and liberal entertainment, which have so dumbed-down the American people that – it pains me to say – mouth-breathing is endemic, and it’s difficult to break through the firewall of propaganda. To the extent that I am no longer optimistic about the future, it’s this three-pronged spear that fuels pessimism. Increasingly, I am skeptical that the American electorate even dislikes socialism and is capable of being prosperous, free, and self-reliant. There are fighters (many across the nation), but increasingly there seem to be more shoulder-shruggers, white-flag-raisers, and those who actually believe that conservatives must “compromise” with people who NEVER COMPROMISE, retreat, or give ground. We are labeled “anarchists,” “hostage-takers,” “extremists,” and “terrorists” — WHY?
Because we reject the centralization of federal power… Because we believe our rights are natural and come from God… Because we believe that people who deign to work can spend their paycheck better than a faceless bureaucrat in Washington D.C.
And where does that money go — the $3.8 TRILLION in the yearly annual “budget” – if not to create dependency in exchange for votes? Winston Churchill rightly warned the world about socialism, explaining that it is the “equal sharing of misery.”
And, sadly, it seems that this lesson has been lost… Seems that Americans are increasingly accepting of mediocrity, moral relativism, graft, and low-ambition. And to oppose this is to be attacked and ridiculed, labeled an “extremist” and derided.
This is “progress” in the era of Barack Obama, thirteen years into the 21st century. This is “fundamental transformation” made manifest. Barack Obama lies for a living, lies like no other, lies to cover lies to cover previous lies — but he didn’t lie in 2008, five days before America went to vote. He has, indeed, transformed America — and given credence to Winston Churchill’s wise warning, as well as the power of propaganda and deceit to white-wash crucial history from lessons once known.
