Imagine the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico blasting President Donald Trump’s meeting with local leaders Tuesday as a… “public relations stunt”.

Like a stink bug coming in from the rain, San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz has come crawling back into the limelight.

Cruz actually shook hands with Trump when he was in Puerto Rico yesterday.

‘Fake News’ Mayor Carmen Cruz weighs in from Puerto Rico

That was just for show.

Today she’s gathering mainstream media support for a renewed attack on her polarized target.

Hours of videotape show Trump meeting with and hugging mainstream Puerto Ricans suffering without food, water and light in the storm’s aftermath.

“There was no exchange with anybody, with none of the mayors,” Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz said on MSNBC. (Huffington Post, Oct. 4, 2017)

You now have to be a mayor to be regarded as a person?

“She called out Trump for the bizarre moment when he tossed paper towels to storm survivors in need of supplies after Hurricane Maria left many on the island without basic necessities.(HuffPo)

“This terrible and abominable view of him throwing paper towels and throwing provisions at people, it does not embody the spirit of the American nation,” Cruz said. “That is not the land of the free and the home of the brave, that beacon of democracy that people have learned to look up to across the world.”

This from the same Her Worship who couldn’t get her trucks moving to distribute the same necessities.

Cruz went to the trouble to tout an internet video as her “proof”:

And adding to the plethora of anti-Trump smears, Trump, according to Cruz, has a “communications problem” and is therefore “miscommunicator-in-chief.”

But Cruz didn’t need the blow-horn she carried in her wading waist-high into the floodwaters to get the word out this time, nor a dramatic T-shirt for a CNN interview, because she had MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell to spread the word.

Most conservative patriots would never have heard of Mitchell were it not for radio giant Rush Limbaugh’s brilliant take on her mosquito-like, high pitched drone.

“MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell was visibly annoyed on Tuesday in response to President Donald Trump’s meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in which he pointedly left out the mayor when heaping praise on federal and local officials for their response to Hurricane Maria.”  (Free Beacon, Oct. 3, 2017)

Neither Cruz nor Mitchell seem to get that the devastation left behind by Hurricane Maria is not all about them, but all about the no-soapbox millions of people it left bereft.

Cruz made headlines last week when she slammed the federal government for its slow response to the storm and pleaded for help from anyone able to provide it.

“I am going to do what I never thought I would do. I am begging, begging anyone who can hear us to save us from dying,” Cruz said in a tearful news conference last Friday. “We are dying, and you are killing us with inefficiency and bureaucracy.” (HuffPo)

“On Twitter, Trump claimed the mayor had been told by Democrats that she must be “nasty” to him.

“Actually, I was asking for help,” she later said. “I wasn’t saying anything nasty about the president.”

“Trump was seated at a table between First Lady Melania Trump and Puerto Rico’s Democratic Gov. Ricardo Rosselló, where he took a veiled shot at San Juan mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, with whom he had a Twitter feud over the weekend, according to the Hill: (FreeBeacon)

“He’s not even from my party, but he started right from the beginning appreciating what we did,” Trump said of Rosselló in remarks at a National Guard base. “This governor did not play politics. He didn’t play it all. He was saying it like it was and he was giving us the highest grades.”

“Cruz attended the briefing, but sat far away from the president. Trump did not mention her during his remarks, even as he cast praise widely on other federal and territory officials for their work.

“Mitchell did a recap of Trump’s interactions with various local and federal officials, noting that he only did a quick handshake with Cruz, while thanking all the other leaders there for their hard work.

“He then brought in all of the other local officials, but you see that quick handshake with the mayor what was said, according to the travel pool, was ‘How are you?’ said the president. The mayor said, ‘Good, sir. I just wanted to say, sir, it’s not about politics.’ “

“The president then looked away and walked away and said, ‘Thank you everybody,’” Mitchell said. (Free Beacon)

“Mitchell then started talking about all the people who Trump praised, including White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon, as she noted the “political dynamic.”

“NBC White House correspondent Peter Alexander agreed with Mitchell and noted how the meeting had the same feel as the June cabinet meeting  where his cabinet went around the table praising Trump.

“Mitchell later reiterated that it was “notable” that Cruz was the only elected official who never got the opportunity to speak at the meeting to her knowledge.

“It was very pointed that she said, ‘It’s not about politics’ when she was shaking his hand there and then when they went to sit down, he opened his remarks by thanking the governor for not playing politics from the start, but did not give her any kind of ‘thank you’ for what she’s doing for her people or give her an opportunity to speak,” she said.

“That’s a pretty deliberate slight, politically.”

Andrea, dear: ‘Politically’ should not be the priority here,  humanity should.

That Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz and the skirt-riding Andrea Mitchell could possibly slam Trump for a ‘Terrible And Abominable’ Puerto Rico Stunt, after the publicity stunts Cruz pulled off last week is right over the top!
