From : Wendy Good Ev’nin, I thought I might say a little more about my gardening ideas. Orange County picks up yard clippings each week. They compost them and then give the stuff out free. We have to take our own buckets to fill up with the compost, but I have to imagine that most community governments do something similar at this time. It is truly great soil and so rich in nutrients that it cuts down on the need to fertilize as often. I put out broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage last weekend. I bought the cheaper six packs of veggies at Home Depot and put out 8 of each plant. This will feed my family, my mom and a neighbor.

My herb garden supplies seasonings for most of the year.  I harvest oregano, basil, thyme and parsley.  Simply snip them, tie them loosely with a ribbon or string and hang them to dry.  As long as you keep them dry they last quite a while. If you have priced seasonings lately you can appreciate the effort.  Just a side idea... I dried several bundles of these one year and made wreaths covered in them at Christmas.  I gave them as gifts.  They smelled great and were really attractive.  Well once again, thank-you Wendy…great job! Wendy is a frequent contributor here in Miz Judi’s Kitchen, and has taken to our project of trying to help our neighbors in “Ridin Out the Recession” quite seriously. I’m still trying to figure out though, if indeed that is her actual sentiment, or whether she’s just trying to get Deb and I to “shut up” long enough for somebody else to have a chance to say something! I see where she’s coming from though, “Ole Deb” will talk as long as you let her!! LOL! No, Wendy has become very involved, and quite honestly I don’t know where she finds the time! She’s a mother, wife, schoolteacher, and gardener. As you can see, just from her tips today it’s pretty obvious she must spend a lot of time in her garden as well! Thank you again Wendy! Everything you send is warmly received and passed right along! Keep up the good work and God Bless you and yours! Please tell your Mother, Dub and Deb say Hello! Thank you all so much!! See ya next time in “Miz Judi’s Kitchen!”

Dub and Deb——

‘Ridin Out The Recession With Dub and Deb in “Miz Judi’s Kitchen’!

Note to Readers: There are a few things that Dub doesn’t know but one thing he does know is that the word ‘Riding’ (as in Riding Out the Recession) is spelled with a ‘g’ at the end.  But Dub not only walks the walk, but speaks like he is: down home, true blue, and plain speakin’ country folk.

Dub and Deb are both native Floridians, live in Central Florida, and run a small business as well. They have five children, and seven grandchildren.

Both love to cook, love to laugh, grow a garden, and generally try to “aggravate” most anyone around them basically…all in good fun, of course!
