Real life example of the challenge we face as a country
Here is a real life example of the challenge we face as a country. Today my husband and I visited a Dairy Queen.
Our order came to $10.16. My husband handed the clerk a $20 and a $1. At that point the world stood still. She handed him back the $1 saying that the $20 was more than enough.
He replied, I want a $10 back. She and another employee both said they couldn't do that. So he left with a $5, four $1s and 84 cents in coins. And they probably wonder why when the run out of bills to make change. We never did find out if they "can't do that" because they don't know how or because it is a company policy.
Here's the fact of the matter. If it is company policy, no wonder we can't compete globally and so many companies fail.
If it is because the employees don't know how then who in their right mind thinks that an employee with these limitations is worth minimum wage, much less an increase in wage.
It is embarrassing that we are burdening our schools, families and youngsters with yet another education reform. This one is called Common Core. Hey, here's an idea let's forget Common Core and teach some common sense and common skills.
