Republican establishment against the people

The cards are stacked against the citizens of the United States having their wishes, as expressed by their vote, actually honored by the delegates at the convention. The parties have "rules" which are able to be changed at the last minute and then there are the uncommitted delegates. The system is designed by the party to be fluid enough to gain the desired outcome. This is especially true if no one reaches the 51% threshold. By convincing candidates like Rubio and Kasich to stay in the race, the Republican Party was buying insurance against any nominee getting enough votes to prevent a brokered convention. What is a brokered convention? In reality it is a convention where the Party and not the voters chose their candidate. The only hope for a candidate chosen by the people is that Donald Trump or Ted Cruz reach that 51% threshold in the remaining states. Currently, Trump is about halfway there and Cruz about a quarter. Then there is the issue of the delegates earned by those who have suspended their campaigns. In a brokered convention many of them become free to support the nominee of their personal choice, or that of the party, not the one who garners the most votes Neither candidate is embraced by the party so I'm sure they are doing everything possible to prevent them from getting enough delegates. I'll be sending a letter to the local and state party leaders to honor the will of the people. I fear trouble if that doesn't happen. Victoria Vaughn
