While we are very careful not to disparage any minority group because of their race, religion or sex, we have no such qualms about disparaging our American neighbors, even as we wallow in everything American from the Simpsons to Sarah Palin. In fact sneering at the U.S. is almost as popular as hockey in the great white north. We especially enjoy condemning the U.S. for its racism. But even though Canada doesn't have a history of slavery, we are not a as simon pure as we would like to believe. In fact it's not that long ago that Jews and blacks were victims of widespread discrimination throughout Canada.

One of these days we are going to find out just how tolerant we are when an Afro-Canadian, or other non-white, is nominated to run for our highest political office. William Bedford
