For some time in 2011, polls showing GOP presidential candidates have been topsy turvy, with “little-known” or unlikely candidates taking the lead at some point.

.

Herman Cain was such a man who briefly enjoyed the spotlight at the top of the polls for the GOP nomination before he was railroaded by the media and those who thought him much of a threat they needed to shove him completely out of the GOP presidential race.

Now surges the surprise candidate Rick Santorum who is at a current second place in the Des Moines Register Poll.

After getting over the Cain row, I have come to the conclusion that the only other choice for the GOP nomination is Rick Santorum, who is conservative enough and understands the situation we face as a nation, the numerous threats that abound .

Candidates can participate in countless debates, but it is expedient of voters to consider and thoroughly examine a candidate’s past record. I’ve come to the conclusion that Santorum is the only other choice than Cain.

It is a reality that our ally Israel is going to need continued unwavering support from the United States in the future and that a candidate like Santorum, who has been steadfast in support of Israel, is needed in the White House at this time.

Popularity alone for a candidate is not going to cut it.  At one point, Newt Gingrich was at the top. Now Mitt Romney enjoys his time in the spotlight, and at one time, Ron Paul sneaked up to take the second spot.

There are many conservatives who think that Ron Paul is the correct answer, but Ron Paul’s isolationist stance will not suffice. The United States is not the only nation in the world; we must make responsible decisions regarding foreign policy and form strategic partnerships with other nations. Friendship with Israel is vital as I remember the Biblical verse: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”- Genesis 12:3

Santorum would be the strongest candidate to drive home that point when debating President Obama. If we are to repair our standing as a nation, and keep a divine favor upon America, we must be sure to honor Israel and stand by her as Almighty God is watching from above.

Santorum recently said, “We’ve got the track record of winning elections and being a consistent conservative, standing up to the tough buffets that come when you are in Washington D.C. and getting things done for America… for the conservative cause.

“We feel that we’re the candidate on the move…they’re looking for that conservative candidate who’s got a chance to win… I think the people here in Iowa…the buzz is that this is our moment, this is our chance to rise in the polls, once we rise as we have,  very slowly, very steadily… based upon people not being buzzed by the media or by debate performances… we have got the time here in Iowa and it’s paying off.”

Santorum has a firm understanding of Biblical principles as he vehemently stands against the homosexual agenda saying, “It’s not personal, it’s about policy.”

The more I hear of Rick Santorum, the more I like.  If voters want a strong conservative, they’ve found it in Santorum.  As Santorum moves forward, voters should take notice of his consistent conservative background that stands in stark contrast to Mitt Romney, who has waffled from time to time.

The countdown to the Iowa caucuses and primaries has started. Tried and true conservatism must stay front and center for this nation to survive.  It’s up to the voters to notice just who is capable of bringing the nation back to consciousness again to the true values that have sustained us for centuries.  Santorum shows the fortitude.
