Right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, this was what a once free, individualistic, patriotic United States proudly stood for. Is this what the communists and Islamists now in the “squad” that rules the Democratic party believe in?

Secular Humanism, Another Name for Communism and Fascism

Secular Humanism, Another Name for Communism and FascismSecular humanists believe there is no God. Other than Allah and Marx, that is. Conservative Christians view “secular humanists” as the enemy, but it is an enemy that no longer exists, at least not in the old sense of the term. Sikivu Hutchinson writes in the July 19, 2019 issue of TheHumanist.com “Donald Trump’s recent racist, sexist, nativist tirade against congresswomen Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib… underscores how fraught and dangerous conditions continue to be for women of color in the United States. Last year the four women…made history in a game-changing election that was a virtual rebuke of Trump’s fascist agenda…an important transition for secular women of color. The fearless example of Omar and “The Squad” is an inspiration for progressive women of color who are pushing for greater political visibility in the secular movement.”
That is where we currently are. Devout Muslim Ilhan Omar, who refuses to condemn Islamic terrorism, represents today’s “secular humanism”. Truth be told no one represents its values better.

The Humanism that Was

Once I identified as a humanist, today that is a word I would never use to describe myself. I meant then I was for individualism, individual freedom, free speech, science free of dogma, limited government and free enterprise. I am still for those things. Which now makes me a political conservative.  In the early 1970s, I was attending an Orthodox Yeshiva. A Rabbi called America a "Hefker" land, a "free" land in a derogatory sense. “Freedom” and “rights” were sins to him. You have no rights, only obligations" the Rabbi repeatedly said. But I also heard of Thomas Jefferson's statement in the Declaration of Independence that each individual has the inalienable right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". These words have have gone from cliché to being “reactionary” for current progressives, so we forget when written they were the most radical notion ever put to pen. For the first time it was proclaimed that a human being does not live for or belong to the king, the state, the clan or religion. The individual does not belong to a collective, but to themselves and has a right to self-fulfillment. Humanism meant valuing human experience and each human life, that the rights, worth and dignity of the individual are paramount. This is counter to abortion as a religious ritual and certainly counter to the values of Islam or socialism. American greatness resulted from a unique situation. Our government, freedoms and values were based on the values of the enlightenment, while simultaneously America remained a strongly religious country, with traditional Christian values permeating society. These two roots operating simultaneously resulted in American exceptionalism. For its time you could not give a much more humanistic speech than what Nobel prize winning physicist Richard Feynman gave an audience of scientists at a Galileo Symposium in 1964. He said “ The freedom to doubt, which is absolutely essential for the development of the sciences was born from a struggle with the constituted authorities of the time who had a solution to every problem, namely the church.” Today there still are constituted authorities, in government, academia, the media, and Hollywood, who punish those who doubt their “solutions”, but they are certainly not the church. Feynman added “The power of the government should be limited, that governments ought not to be in power to decide the validity of scientific theories, they are not to decide the various descriptions of history or of economic theory.” Feynman was the model of a secular humanist. Read that last sentence again. How do the values he states compare with the doctrines of today’s speech code, total government control, Marxist economy supporting “secular humanists”?

What Humanism has Become

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, I was being sold that Christian conservatives were out to take over running the country. But slowly something odd became clear. Conservative Christians, who railed against "humanism", defended the American values of individualism and freedom which are the hallmark of humanism, while those who called themselves “humanists" stood for Marxist totalitarianism. Today conservative Christians are about the only ones supporting the freedoms once every American could take for granted. Victor Davis Hanson wrote about a decade ago “Hamas is not known for free speech, gender equity, tolerance of homosexuality, or equality of the races. Yet visit any campus free speech area, and the PA or pro-Hamas literature is handed out right next to the Latino, black, gay, Native American, or feminist booths”. At the time I found this puzzling and disturbing. At about the same time at a humanist meeting I attended I heard praise and admiration for Palestinian suicide bombers fighting against the “Israeli occupation”. This is an old story by now. We know that those who would imprison Christians for hate crimes for daring to say there are only two genders, or refusing to bake cakes for gay weddings, embrace as allies those who throw gays off roofs. Because they are allies, like Hitler and Stalin once were, in the common cause to eradicate Western Civilization, considered evil for its Judeo-Christian roots and embrace of individualism and personal and economic freedom.

I once wondered why humanists did not understand that civilization, freedom, human rights are on the verge of extinction, and capitalists, Christians, Israel are not the ones at fault. But the answer is simple. Humanists are communists and fascists, and they, like their Islamic partners, despise human rights. As “we are Hamas” signs have became a standard part of “progressive” demonstrations it is apparent that the word "humanist" stems from the Anglicized version of “Hamas”.

Toward a New Dark Age

The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, this was what a once free, individualistic and patriotic United States proudly stood for. Is this what any “progressive” believes in today? Is this what the communists and Islamists now in the “squad” that rules the Democratic party believe in? “Secular humanists” use the term as Orwellian Newspeak. They bear the same relationship to the values of the Enlightenment as Hitler and the Mufti, the spiritual ancestors of the “squad”, did when they met to divide the world.
