Sexist if a Republican said it: Bernie's 'Excuse me, I'm talking!' moment.

Ok, fine. I readily admit that this is a small-ish point. However: If a Republican dared to utter this sentence, it would be used by the mainstream media as an example of the right's alleged intolerance, bigotry, and misogyny. A conservative who said this would be torn apart by the giggling mainstream-media jackals like last week's roadkill. The fun part here is that you can tell - by the "ooooooh" from the audience, that they're thinking it. Their first reaction is to go for the sexist jugular. Normally, if someone speaks to a left-wing woman in this fashion, this crowd would set phasers on kill. Conservative women have it coming, but a left-winger like Hillary or Fauxcahontas? Never. If he was a Republican, the lefty faithful would be yelling that implicit in Bernie's attack is the idea that Hillary should pipe down because ....She's a woman. They'd write that what Bernie really meant was... "Excuse me, sweetheart, I'm talking." or.... "Excuse me, 1950's ad-agency secretary, I'm talking." or.... "Excuse me, Hillary, the men are talking." or.... "Why don't you fetch me a latte, because your monthly histrionics are both distracting and irrelevant." They would not stop until they'd managed to spin this tiny, insignificant, exchange into at least 90 days of fodder. Bernie would be forced to walk it back, other Republicans would be forced to denounce it, and we'd all have to be part of a "national discussion" on gender equality. Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow, and Chris Matthews would be positively outraged. But it's ok, because Bernie wants to tax you even more than Hillary does. So he's inoculated against the basic-cable venom. Don't worry, though, because this is just a 'sexism dry-run.' You're about to enter the most lopsided, vitriolic, presidential race in history. Once the GOP chooses its nominee, Hillary will talk over him. He'll protest. Then, and only then, will the media gloves come off. All of the above criticisms, and many many more, will be leveled at a blistering pace. That's just the pathetic way they work it.
