Snyder, Texas Becomes 100th City in America to Ban Abortion

In addition to providing protections for pregnant mothers and their unborn children, the ordinance also educates members of the community on the Thriving Texas Families Program

On Monday, October 5, the City of Snyder, Texas (pop. 11,251) adopted a Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance banning abortion and abortion trafficking. The passage of the measure makes the City of Snyder the 100th city in the nation, and the 83rd city in Texas, to pass an ordinance outlawing abortion and declaring their city a Sanctuary City for the Unborn.

The consideration of the “Ordinance Outlawing Abortion, declaring Snyder a Sanctuary City for the Unborn” was the result of a successful citizen initiative petition filed with City Secretary Shai Green in July and a unanimous 6-0 first reading vote in September.

After a brief presentation from Right to Life Across Texas during their October 5th meeting, Mayor Stephanie Ducheneaux asked for a motion on the second and final reading of the ordinance. Mayor Pro-Tem Sarah Jamison made a motion to adopt the measure on the second and final reading. The motion was quickly seconded by Councilmembers Julian Dominguez and Kenny Miller. Upon a full vote of the Snyder City Council, Ralph Hernandez and Thomas Strayhorn joined Jamison, Dominguez, and Miller in voting for the ordinance – making the vote a unanimous 5-0. ---More...

Kentucky Abortions Drop From 4400 to 5 After State Bans Abortion

In 2025, five brick-and-mortar abortions were reported in Kentucky by the state’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services. After Roe v. Wade was overturned on June 24, 2022, the state prohibited abortion from conception on the very same day. The law (KRS §311.772) was then blocked on June 30, but went back into effect later that summer on August 1 and has remained in effect since. The state’s life-at-conception law allows abortion in cases where a continued pregnancy would threaten the life and/or physical health of the mother. All five brick-and-mortar abortions reported by the state were performed because of these exceptions. One abortion was performed because the mother’s life was endangered due to liver cirrhosis, and another was performed as a “maternal life sustaining measure” due to PPROM. Two abortions were performed due to cases of previable PPROM, and one other was performed due to a case of PPROM, sepsis, and acute chorioamnionitis.

The data published by the state doesn’t include the total number of abortions obtained by Kentucky residents out of state or the number of self-managed abortions performed by women outside of the healthcare system. The report also does not contain the total number of mail-order abortion drugs obtained by Kentucky residents prescribed by licensed abortionists in other states with shield laws. Below, Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) will describe data provided by the Guttmacher Institute’s Monthly Abortion Provision Study that details the total number of Kentucky women who traveled out of state to obtain an abortion in 2025 and the number of Kentucky women who obtained mail-order abortion drugs shipped into the state by out-of-state abortionists. Guttmacher’s abortion estimates include the number of abortions obtained at brick-and-mortar facilities and those provided via telehealth and virtual providers in states where such abortions are still legal. CLI will also describe data from the Society of Family Planning’s #WeCount project that details the number of abortion drugs mailed to Kentucky women. ---More...

Pro-Life Groups Demand FDA Admit Massive Problems With Abortion Pills

Pro-life groups are demanding that the Food and Drug Administration use a court-ordered Oct. 7 update to show real progress on its review of the dangerous abortion pill mifepristone, and to count the injuries women and their unborn children have already suffered.

John Mize, chief executive of Americans United for Life, said the agency has had more than a year and has shown the public little to indicate the review is underway.

“More than one year ago, HHS Secretary Kennedy and former FDA Commissioner Makary announced the safety review of the abortion pill, mifepristone, had officially started,” Mize said. “Since then, we have seen no public evidence this review has actually begun, much less any substantial progress made.”

He said Wednesday’s filing will show where the agency’s priorities lie.

“The FDA’s response to the court will let the American people know where its priorities stand, whether with the women and children the review was initiated to protect or the political powers that continue to prolong the review until the dust of the coming midterms have cleared,” Mize said. ---More...

Catholic Bishop: Vote Against Question 6 in Nevada, Stop Abortions Up to Birth

Archbishop George Leo Thomas is urging Catholics to vote no on Nevada Question 6, warning that the measure would allow abortion into the ninth month and take parents out of a minor’s decision.

From the pulpit Sunday, the Archdiocese of Las Vegas asked Catholics across five counties to reject the ballot question, which would write abortion into the state constitution. Abortion is already legal in Nevada but this would expand it in the extreme.

Thomas’ pastoral letter was read at Mass in the archdiocese’s 34 parishes.

“This question is not whether abortion is legal in Nevada; it already is under a law approved by Nevada voters in 1990,” Thomas wrote. “The Legislature cannot amend or repeal that law; only a direct vote of the people can do so.”

“This question is whether Nevada voters should expand the right to abortion in ways that can harm the health, safety, and welfare of women and minors,” he wrote. “Moreover, this measure will have grave and lasting consequences for vulnerable unborn lives.” ---More...

Canada Approved Euthanasia for Woman Who Could No Longer Cook for Her Family

A Canadian woman in her 70s was approved for euthanasia after she lost the ability to cook for her family, a role she had prized as the matriarch.

Unfortunately, she was almost killed before counseling helped her see that her life was not measured by the meals she served.

Doctors Gary Rodin and Madeline Li of the University of Toronto described the case in a New York Times opinion piece. The woman felt she had lost her value to her family and was approved for medical assistance in dying before she sought counseling.

Through counseling, she came to understand that her family valued who she was, not what she did for them. She decided not to go through with ending her life, at least for now.

That Christmas, her family gathered and she sat proudly at the table while others did the cooking and serving.

Rodin and Li said they are not opposed to legalized assisted dying, but they warned that Canadian law does not require clinicians to guide patients toward other help before people are killed. ---More...
