Amazon vs New York Socialists

Socialist make-believe economics sink Amazon’s plan

Socialist make-believe economics sink Amazon’s planThough the first week of March is ending and Daylight Savings Time is only days away, it’s getting cold again in New York City. Temperatures are in the low 20’s, 20 degrees below average for this time of year. Frozen urine is back on the streets. Such are the joys of global warming. To make matters worse two days ago piles of an unpleasant powdery white substance were dumped in front of every Black home in the five boroughs. The color makes it clear this is the work of white supremacists, Trump supporters in MAGA hats.
But I have my own problems. Being out of a job and with some recent life changes I am hemorrhaging money.  Nevertheless there is  a solution. I simply order a Rolls Royce and cancel the order a day later.  The $350,000 I will have saved will last me a few years even in New York City. The inspiration for this financial bonanza is Mao’s maiden, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. A deal was in place for Amazon to build its second headquarters in Queens. Amazon would create 25,000 jobs paying an average of $150,000, in return for close to 3 billion dollars worth of tax breaks. Even progressive socialists Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio were onboard. Oh, for those of you not fortunate enough to live in new York City, let me explain Queens. You are all familiar with Manhattan, dirty, loud, dangerous, congested, homeless everywhere, you can’t drive in it, you can’t park in it, insane taxes, insane prices, but cultural capitol of the world. Queens is Manhattan without the culture. De Blasio may have spent his honeymoon in Castro’s Cuba and worked for the Sandinistas, but by New York City standards he is a centrist. Amazon abandoned plans to build in New York City because of the threats of  left-wing activists. Activists being terrorists that the main stream media likes.  The successful “down with capitalist exploiters of the masses” campaign was spearheaded by Ocasio-Cortez,  City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer and State Senator Michael Gianaris. Celebrating her smashing victory, Ocasio-Cortez said: “If we’re willing to give away $3 billion dollars for this deal, we could invest those $3 billion dollars in our district…We could hire more teachers. We can fix our subways. We can put a lot of people to work for that money.” Brilliant! How could I not be inspired? Of course reactionaries may contend that the 3 billion dollars does not exist, being tax credits, reduction in the amount of taxes Amazon would have paid. And that such incentives to companies are only necessary because of the Vampire State’s and the Rotten Apple’s exorbitant taxes. New York does not get the benefit of any taxes from a company not based here. But reactionaries can not be expected to understand socialist economics. Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, Tlaib… As Bette Davis said in All About Eve,“Fasten your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy night.” Oh Well, at least I can enjoy my $350,000.
