Speaking as a Taxpayer

It is incredible that in all the discussion around the Federal budget and reducing the deficit there has been nothing mentioned about cutting taxes. The President accuses Republicans of protecting the highest income earners. Little is said about his protection of unions, bailing out failing businesses and supporting pet projects.

If a family is spending more than they are earning, they can either work longer and harder or they can stop wasteful and frivolous expenses. The parents are likely in favor of cutting as they cannot work enough hours to solve the problem. The kids, on the other hand, might favor more income as opposed to losing their goodies. The government is the children in this scenario while the Republican Party is the parents. The President is obsessed with making the taxpayers work more hours to fund his agenda. Speaking as one taxpayer, I say, "Mr. President, make serious cuts and stop supporting special interests, then we can talk. Until then, I will assume you are talking the talk but are unwilling to walk the walk." Our "government children" are out of control. We need to start acting like the parents. Take the time to contact representatives and let them know that we are not willing to work 3 jobs to support their irresponsibility. Sylvia E. Warren
