State Plans To Sacrifice 400 Acres Of Forest For Solar Panel Farm

Here’s an idea. Let’s destroy 400 acres of beautiful forest to install barely functional solar panels. Then, to rub salt in the wound, let’s use panels manufactured in China.

Many Michigan lawmakers oppose plans for a new solar farm. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources intends to clear a forest in Otsego County to install rows of solar panels made in China.

94.9 WSJM reported:

“Republican State Representative Ken Borton of Gaylord and others are upset with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources over a plan to destroy more than 400 acres of forest, located just west of Gaylord, to clear the way for the solar panels. Borton says there should be mass firings at the DNR over it.”

“I’m hearing from many of my Democrat friends, people who believe in climate change, that they realize that for them to cut all these trees down is absolutely going the wrong way.”

Borton stated that a Harvard study shows that the loss of carbon-dioxide-consuming forests for renewable energy installations results in a net increase in greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. That means converting forests to renewable energy is counterproductive to the climate fight.

The leadership of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently decided to invite bids for a solar project on public trust lands in Hayes Township, which is located just west of Gaylord at the 45th Parallel. This project will be developed alongside two other solar farms currently being established on nearby private land.

All three solar installations will benefit from their proximity to a high-voltage power transmission line in the area.

Borton called the decision to destroy wildlife habitat for solar panels “mind-numbing.”

“We’ve all read the Lorax. If he thought like the DNR, he’d only be speaking for trees for as long as it took to fill his chainsaw with gas after the solar industry waved a fat wad of cash in his face.” (Michigan House Republicans)

State Sen. Michele Hoitenga, R-Manton, agrees that the DNR must be held accountable. She pointed out that while the DNR holds citizens accountable for unethical conservation actions, people are demanding accountability for what she describes as an unethical decision by the DNR.

“The people who made this absurd decision signed up for a job to protect our natural resources. Their department is supposed to stand up for outdoor enthusiasts, Instead, they sold us out.” (Michigan House Republicans)

The destruction of land for asinine solar and wind projects accomplishes nothing. Tearing up land and tearing down forests to create eye sores with no benefit except to massage the radical left’s ego has to stop.

In Greek mythology, Helios is the sun god, and Aeolus is the god of the wind. Both are nice stories, but someone needs to remind the left that both are only myths.
