The Constitution gave us a system of government that would be the standard for all nations

Stopping the destruction of our heritage

Preserving the national heritage of the United States of America is critical to the survival of our nation as one of people living in liberty in a collection of states united under a federal government, as outlined by our Constitution. Heritage is defined as "features belonging to the culture of a particular society, such as traditions, languages, or buildings, which come from the past and are still important." -- (from the Cambridge Academic Content Dictionary)
While the above definition of heritage does not specify, when we speak of our national heritage, we are referring to those thoughts, doctrines, events, people, places, and beliefs that still contribute positively to today's society. For example, while slavery is part of our nation's past, the abolition of slavery is part of our national heritage. Events, movements, and people that contributed to the abolition of slavery, such as the abolitionist movement, Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, and the Emancipation Proclamation are also a part of our national heritage. It doesn't mean we need to adhere to beliefs and attitudes that have since been relegated to the past by society as a whole. Progress is "the process of improving or developing something over a period of time." (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/progress) As progress applies to our heritage, it is improving and developing as society discusses, debates, makes laws, and even fights wars. The late Tibor R. Machan, a professor of philosophy at Auburn University, Alabama, who passed away this year on March 24, spoke to the erosion of the basic ethical and political ideas that are part of our national heritage. In "The Bill of Rights and Moral Philosophy," written in 1992, he described how the Leftist dominated educational system is so often "not hesitating to indict us for 'our' past treatment of Native Americans, African-Americans, women, and other groups" by applying universal standards "so we can say that our forefathers were bigots, racists, sexists, and so forth."

Machan continues: "Why this is taken seriously and not dismissed as incoherent, since it applies current value judgments to other historical periods, is one of the curiosities of contemporary political discussions." I would take that a step further and say that rather than being a curiosity, it is part of the process going on of destroying our national heritage for the sake of the Leftists' future false utopia of equality of wealth under a centralized government. In the process of attempting to impose upon our nation a government to their liking, which is based on the discredited philosophy of Marxism, they work to try and discredit the Constitution and our Founding Fathers who created such a wonderful document. The Constitution gave us a system of government that would be the standard for all nations, as feudal, colonial economic systems and monarchical political systems were replaced by capitalist economics and citizen-participatory limited government. Let me conclude this with a few more quotes from "The Bill of Rights and Moral Philosophy" by Tibor R. Machan:

"America's political foundations were laid more than 200 years ago. The Declaration of Independence simply but clearly stated that each of us has basic rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The framers of the Constitution then made the point in more detail by adding the Bill of Rights, so as to single out some rights as deserving special mention without belittling others not listed." "The central thesis of these documents is the doctrine of individual rights. Spelled out in considerable detail by the English philosopher John Locke, this doctrine holds that each person is a sovereign being, not to be ruled by or rule over others, but rather to take charge of his property—his own person and estate. Our nation's founders thus rejected the most pervasive doctrine on the globe at the time—that some people were justified by God, nature, force, or convenience to be the masters of their fellowmen." "The people, so long as their right to free thought is still respected by law, are still in charge. And they can make the difference between a future guided by the principles that gave birth to our nation or one directed by alien philosophies that will take us back to the dark ages of feudalism and despotic rule."
