MISSISSAUGA, ON,- Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) today announced that August year-to-date sales of Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive vehicles held steady with a slight decrease of 0.3 percent year to date as compared to 2010, which set a new milestone as SCI's best year ever. In total, 1,863 units were retailed, putting monthly sales in the top three for August results in company history. Luxury proved to be an attribute in demand as Tribeca sales continued to be robust in August, increasing by 64 percent over the same month last year.

"Despite experiencing some inventory supply issues, our dealers are still showing strong sales performance by working as a team to satisfy customer needs," said Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada. "The devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan back in March is now impacting sales, but the good news is that production is up and running and, as such, our inventory will dramatically improve very shortly. We are still on target to have our second best year ever in company history and that's a remarkable achievement in an industry that's down overall." Subaru Canada, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan. Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, the company markets and distributes Subaru vehicles, parts and accessories through a network of over 85 authorized dealers across Canada.
