Swede on his way to Panama missing in Colombia

Jan (Phillip) Braunisch was last heard from on May 15, while he was in Riosucio in northern Colombia


A very sad letter from Poetisk Kaka arrived in my inbox today.

Poetisk’s brother Jan (Phillip) Braunisch was last heard from on May 15, while he was in Riosucio in northern Colombia, about to attempt to cross the border to Panama by hiking through the jungle. Phillip has been reported as a missing person and INTERPOL and the police in Sweden have been handling the case since July. This has unfortunately not led to much thus far. There has been long delays to get connections with the Colombian Police due to descisions about this case made thus far. Philip’s wife and sister have for a long time been doing research and reaching out to embassies, the Red Cross, the ministry of foreign affairs and helpful souls on the internet. In some cases they have also been contacted by friendly people with knowledge of Colombia/Central America. Lately they have gotten a lot of help from an American journalist who currently is in Colombia. More...
