Did you know there is movement afoot in Congress for an amendment to the United States Constitution to place term limits on Congress? The latest report shows that 19 named Republican Senators have agreed to co-sponsor this Bill and 104 Congressmen have also agreed. The report I saw didn’t have the names of the Congressmen, but like the Senate, I would be surprised if there were any Democrats.
There is a lesson here for all of us. Most socialist Democrats in Congress don’t want to break up the criminal enterprise that Congress has become. The socialist Democrats don’t go to Washington to do the peoples business, which was amply demonstrated during the 2025 government shutdown; they go to Washington to get rich. The United States government is the best government money can buy. And man-oh-man, are there organizations just waiting to buy America’s career professional politicians.
Did you know that Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) has been in Congress for more than 49 years? Do you know that 61% of Americans were not alive when Markey first went to Congress? Did you know that Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) has been in Congress 35 years and that 43% of Americans were not alive when she first entered Congress? Let me assure you, there are also long serving Republicans as well, such as Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Senator Mich McConnell (R-KY), and Representative Hal Rogers (R-KY), who have served more than 35 years but less than 49 years. The late Representative John Dingell (D-MI) served 59 years.
The Founding Fathers didn’t originally address term limits because in their world and time they could not imagine that anyone would even want to serve in government longer than absolutely necessary.
They certainly did not envision career professional lifetime politicians.
It seems that 14 states have yet to have a Congressional member sign on to cosponsor this bill. You can check the Americans for Term Limits website to see if your state is one of those at: Ameican's for Term Limits . I can happily say that all the representatives from my state are onboard.
If the criminal corruption is going to get cleaned up in America, we first have to start at the top and slaughter that long-lived cash cow that has corrupted Congress. That cash cow is unlimited terms in Congress. Current revelations have shined the spotlight on government corruption on a scale we could never imagine. It has been suggested the total cost of corruption is equal to the annual federal budget deficit. We must strike while the iron is hot and that is now!
We have the opportunity in 2026 to make things happen. To every Congressional Representative who is standing for reelection in November, and who refuses to come on board the Term Limits Amendment Bill can have their “career” ended on November 3, 2026.
