Bangladeshi jihadist Akayed Ullah used family ties to get here

The Chain-Migrant Manhattan Bomber
A would-be Muslim suicide bomber’s attempt to kill morning rush hour commuters in Manhattan yesterday is throwing much-needed light on our disastrous “chain migration” immigration system that admits foreigners based merely on family connections.

Around 7:20 Monday morning what police called “an improvised, low-tech” pipe-bomb style device detonated prematurely while strapped to the body of jihadist immigrant and Brooklyn resident Akayed Ullah, 27, in a subway passageway between Times Square and the Port Authority, a massive bus terminal, in Manhattan. Another unexploded device was found on his person. As a result of the wardrobe malfunction, the bungling would-be bomber suffered serious burns and innocent lives were saved. Three or possibly four bystanders were injured but their wounds were not deemed life-threatening.

In 2011 Ullah lawfully moved to the United States from Bangladesh with an F-43 family immigrant visa, according to the White House. About 70 percent of new immigration to the U.S. is chain migration.

Beneficiary of the chain migration system

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders held up the attacker as a beneficiary of the chain migration system President Trump wants to get rid of. The Trump administration would reverse the systemic discrimination against well-rounded would-be immigrants who speak English. Trump wants the immigration system to emphasize merit and employability, as opposed to familial relationships.

After “diversity visa lottery” winner Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, who came to the U.S. from Uzbekistan seven years ago, killed eight people in a Manhattan park on Halloween, the Trump administration also unveiled plans to terminate games of chance as a method for selecting future Americans.

But chain migration is the greater threat to America’s future. It is a magic carpet that brings terrorists, public charges, and low- and no-skilled workers to the United States. It was Democrats who rigged the game in the Sixties by changing immigration law to import Democrat voters. The tsunami of immigrants from authoritarian Third World countries over the past half century helped Democrats grow their political base. It supposedly takes generations for immigrant families to back away from collectivism and big government as solutions to life’s problems and become Republicans. Continued high immigration rates benefit Democrats and the crony capitalists who bankroll them, impoverish the workers already here, and virtually guarantee endless growth in the size and scope of government.

Worker skill levels dropped after the enactment of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) of 1965 which began the flood of immigrants from countries hostile to the traditional American values of limited government, individualism, and a healthy respect for markets and civil society. When the INA was overhauled, a “national origins” formula calculated to maintain the existing population demographic in the nation as of 1924, was dumped in favor of one based on immigrants’ skills and family relationships with U.S. citizens or residents.

The recently reelected Mayor Bill de Blasio (D), ever protective of America’s enemies, grudgingly conceded what Ullah did “was an attempted terrorist attack.”

The mayor said the perpetrator acted alone and that there is no threat to New York City, which is something he probably couldn’t know at this point, especially because the New York Police Department’s counterterrorism division has been deliberately hamstrung in its efforts to combat Muslim terrorism.

De Blasio did the hamstringing

De Blasio did the hamstringing. He was part of the pro-terrorist leftist lynch mob that gutted the NYPD’s intelligence operation that used to send informants into suspect mosques, which has left the city vulnerable to terrorist attacks like the one Ullah intended to carry out. In New York, thanks to people like de Blasio, it is now more important to avoid making Muslims uncomfortable than to actually root out terrorist plots that lead to the deaths of his constituents.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Ullah should be held “as a suspected enemy combatant for a few days, let the intelligence community talk to him, gather as much intel as we can. Then we’ll make a decision where to charge him and how to charge him.”

“The first thing I want to do is treat this as an act of terror not a common crime, and the Obama administration criminalized the war, the Trump administration followed that same model,” he said. “I hope that will break here.”

Ullah’s actions could have something to do with jihadist unrest in his country of origin, Muslim-majority Bangladesh, the Daily Mail speculates. “[O]ne of the largest demonstrations” against President Trump’s recognition last week of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital took place in Bangladesh, the newspaper notes.

Ullah is said to have told police that his botched attack was inspired by international terrorist groups. Former New York Police Department Commissioner Bill Bratton told MSNBC the attack was done “in the name of ISIS.” Recent Islamic State propaganda has been filled with yuletide threats against New York and Times Square.

Ullah reportedly chose his target because it was adorned with Christmas-themed posters, just as Christmas markets attacked in recent years in Europe have been decorated. A week ago a 12-year-old Muslim boy planted a nail bomb at a Christmas market in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Ullah’s bomb attack was intended as retaliation for U.S. airstrikes on Islamic State targets in Syria and elsewhere.

Bill de Blasio, New York’s current top dog, had crawled deep into bed with Linda Sarsour and Islamists

Strangely, in the years since the 9/11 Muslim terrorist attacks, New York City has become tolerant of those who support Muslim terrorism.

“Under [former New York Mayor Rudy] Giuliani there were clear red lines for rallies and protests,” observes Daniel Greenfield. “Calling for terror and death was a red line. But Bill de Blasio, New York’s current top dog, had crawled deep into bed with Linda Sarsour and Islamists.”

Calls for the mass slaughter of Jews are commonplace in the Big Apple today. Just this past weekend anti-Israel rally attendees in Times Square demanded violence against Jews.

As Tablet reports,

With spirit and blood we’ll redeem al Aqsa!” shout the hundreds huddled under the neon arch that is the 42nd Street subway entrance. “There is only one solution, Intifada revolution!” And then, to top off the frenzy of religious hatred and incitement: “Jews, remember Khaybar, the army of Muhammad is returning.” Khaybar, to anyone not well-versed in Islamist eschatology, is an oasis not far from Medina where, in 628 CE, Muslim armies slaughtered and subdued the Jews. Finally, as the demonstration was reaching its peak, the crowd took simply to shouting “Intifada,” the name given to the Palestinian campaign of violence which has murdered thousands of Israelis in the last three decades.

“New York City authorities would never have tolerated a [Ku Klux] Klan rally in Harlem shouting about bringing back slavery,” Greenfield writes. “Khaybar references are the same exact thing. But the Sarsorization of politics has legitimized such behavior.”

In such an environment where local law enforcement officials are going out of their way not to do their jobs because they might offend Muslims, it’s not hard to see how would-be mass-murdering jihadists like Akayed Ullah escape detection.

But this time New Yorkers got lucky.

The next Akayed Ullah may possess better bomb-making skills.
