Obama could now be described as a constitutional deconstructionist

The deconstructionists

It's no exaggeration to say that each day new violations of the Constitution by our federal government are coming to light, what has become a defining characteristic of the current administration. While our government departs more and more from our Constitution and our heritage, nothing is being done to help stop our declining standard of living, and we are seeing lawlessness and amorality becoming the new standards.
A former lecturer of constitutional law at the University of Chicago, Barack Obama could now be described as a constitutional deconstructionist. The process he has described as “fundamental transformation” is actually one where the administration more and more abandons the constitutional process and deconstructs it in order to make the government run his way and in a way advantageous to his party. The Democrat majority in the House and Senate during the first two years of the Obama administration showed their utter disregard for the Constitution as well, passing monstrosities of legislation like the (Un)Affordable Care Act and the Dodd-Frank financial regulatory reform bill. Unelected staff created legislation too long to read and too hard to understand that the legislators, the ones sent to Washington to represent us, pass sight unseen.

Federal agencies are going ahead and implementing new policies without going through the legislative process. If Congress votes something down, this administration says they will just find a way around Congress and the constitutional process and do it anyway. Our foundation of government on the Constitution is crumbling and very little has been done these last five years to stop it. The political opposition is led by those who, while they occasionally speak against the new tyranny, end up doing nothing to stop it, instead choosing to attack those who get elected who have a determination to do something about it.

Finding a way back

A new book by Mark Levin, The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic, explains a process provided in Article V of the Constitution by which we can find our way back to Constitutional government when Washington no longer listens to us. A convention for proposing amendments to the Constitution can be held when two thirds of the states call for it, and then approved by three fourths of the state. While we have seen 27 amendments to the Constitution approved that have been proposed by a vote of two thirds of both houses of Congress, “Article V expressly grants state legislatures significant authority to re-balance the constitutional structure for the purpose of restoring our founding principles should the federal government shed it limitations, abandon its original purpose, and grow too powerful...” In his book, Levin gives us eleven amendments to be proposed this way and gives an in-depth explanation of each. This book is a must read, available at bookstores and online now and can also be purchased at amazon.com as a downloadable e-book.
