In June 1979 there appeared in the remote town of Elberton, Elbert County, US-state of Georgia (approx. 90 miles east of Atlanta), a man unknown in that area, quite elegant both in clothing and manners, who introduced himself as “R. C. Christian” (as he added, a mere pseudonym) and commissioned a local stonemasons’ firm with a project highly unusual both in size and content:

A Stonehenge-style granite monument meant to communicate a “message for future generations” and to help bring about “the coming Age of Reason,” as the man explained. Due to the immense costs estimated, his solvency was checked at a local bank (the only place ever to learn about his true identity). Immediately after this, the work started, involving stonemasons, engravers, as well as translators as the intended message was to be inscribed in eight major languages as well as a brief motto in four ancient scripts. Soon a place was found for the artifact: a hilltop in the midst of open farmland about 7 miles north of Elberton and just to the eastern side of Georgia Highway 77 (for Google-Earth-users who wish to identify the spot on the map or GPS-users who might be thinking about actually going there, the coordinates are 34°13′55.17” N / 82°53′39.95” W). Finally, on March 22, 1980, including some 400 chosen guests (whose identities have also remained secret), there was held an unveiling ceremony allegedly of quite occult character. Never to this day has anyone been successful in detecting the mysterious orderers. Quite mysteriously as well, the odd monument has over the 30 years of its existence not been covered by the mainstream media: a “message for future generations” being kept secret? With the general public (apart from a now growing number of lucky internet “finders”) having stayed completely unaware of this “American Stonehenge,” certain “segments” of society, however, did learn of it, namely the New-Age- and UFO-communities (who idiotically celebrate the “Georgia Guidestones” as a source of hope and “spiritual” meaning). Thus, the object is secret on one level and quite public on another. More... Daniel Löwengrub, born 1963 in the heart of Europe, could well have become a pianist, a musicologist, or a full-hearted primary school teacher. However, at the age of 24, he set out for an 8-months-journey to India, Australia, and Papua-New-Guinea that deeply changed his outlook on life. Travelling (and seeking) having become his personal university rather than the usual educational institutions, he has also been (among other parts of Europe) to the U.K., Ireland, Turkey, as well as to Tanzania. Having found his spiritual fulfillment within Sufism, the author is being today a freelance astrologer and, if you will, writer. Daniel Löwengrub is still living in his place of origin, the heart of Europe…
