The Government You Deserve

A people armed and free, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition and is a bulwark for the nation against foreign invasion and domestic oppression;

"If you do not take an interest in the affairs of your government, then you are doomed to live under the rule of fools." ~ Plato

There is one political truism we must always bow down to. Whether it is good or bad, depending on your perspective, America will always have the government it deserves. Whether you vote or don’t vote, you will get the government you deserve. If you get a government you don’t like, and you failed to vote, shame on you, but you did get the government you deserved.

If you did vote and got a government you don’t like, did you do everything you could have done to make sure you got the government you wanted? If not, shame on you, but you got the government you deserved. Although voting is the first and necessary action, We the People have a greater obligation to actively participate in the process. Sending money to your preferred candidate is just the starting point. More important, your time is needed more to deliver the message of your candidate.

"The power under the Constitution will always be in the people." ~ George Washington

The Founding Fathers designed a system of government that is a participation sport. The United States Constitution lays out the plan, but the execution of that plan is up to We the People. If We the People abrogate our responsibility to a professional elitist class of career politicians, as we have done, we get what we have inside the Washington, DC beltway today. But it is the government we deserve.

“Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I'll show you a crook.” ~ Harry S. Truman

We the People have the power to inflict term limits on each and every Congressman and Senator, if we would only man-up and do it. Waiting for Congress to pass a term limit Constitutional Amendment is a fool’s errand. Most of them are crooks, and they are not about to kill the cash cow that makes them rich. Waiting for a Convention of States is a fool’s errand as well because the state legislators who must convene such a convention are waiting in the wings to get rich when they go to the United States Congress.

"If there be a principle that ought not to be questioned within the United States, it is that every man has a right to abolish an old government and establish a new one. This principle is not only recorded in every public archive, written in every American heart, and sealed with the blood of American martyrs, but is the only lawful tenure by which the United States hold their existence as a nation." ~ James Madison

The United States Constitution has two provisions available to We the People to terminate the criminal enterprise we call Congress. Article I of the Constitution gives We the People the opportunity to vote to remove an incumbent every two years for the House of Representatives and every six years for the Senate. That is the first and preferable method. All that We the People must do is to never ever reelect an incumbent. Yes, it is that simple. We the People can impose term limits starting in 2026.

When the government becomes too corrupt and no longer serves the best interests of We the People, the people have the right and obligation to change that government. The Founding Fathers gave us a second option, and that option is the right to use the Second Amendment to enforce that change if necessary.

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself." ~ George Washington

"A people armed and free, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition and is a bulwark for the nation against foreign invasion and domestic oppression." ~ James Madison

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." ~ James Madison

The Founding Fathers made it clear. The right to have firearms is not for hunting, but for self-protection and for We the People to defend ourselves against the government should that become necessary.

"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom." ~ President John F. Kennedy

So the real question is: Are We the People going to change government under the provisions of Article I of the United States Constitution, the easy way, or are our descendants going to have to change the government under the provisions of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, the hard way?

"Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder." ~ George Washington

The current United States Congress validates the above statement of Washington. At this time, only 124 of 535 members of Congress have the virtue to support Congressional term limits. That suggests to me that the others have given in to the highest bidder(s) and that isn’t the American taxpayer.

Never forget, we will always have the government we deserve.
