The Military Vote

I just don't buy the idea that our military personnel have lost interest in participating in this election.

It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't want to exercise their vote, a right they have fought to protect. The news stories about the drop of up to 70% raise red flags in my brain. My head and heart say that something is very, very wrong here. We know that the military voters are not Obama supporters, for the most part and tend to vote Republican. We know that the biggest drop in requests for absentee ballots are occurring in battleground states. We know that in past elections, military votes were not counted for various reasons. We know that in some states, the military vote could decide the election results. In our complex world with everyone blaming the other guy, it might be difficult to determine the source of the problem. Defense Department incompetency, voter apathy, too complicated, What? Regardless, the situation justifies investigation. Every single citizen representing our country overseas should have the opportunity to vote and it should be made simple and easy for them. They must be afforded the opportunity to vote in this election. Anything else is for political gain. R. Earl Warren
