The president's position on Guantanamo Bay Detention Center

When Denis McDonough, White House Chief of Staff, tried to explain the president's position on Guantanamo Bay Detention Center, I was shocked at the latest talking point. Mr. McDonough said that Gitmo is too expensive and that President Obama doesn't want to leave it for the next President to deal with. This is the first time I had heard either argument.

I suggest that if he is truly concerned about his successor, he should ask each candidate what they would want and make those answers public information. You see, I don't believe there is any motivation except saving face by completing a campaign promise at all costs. We saw with the Bergdahl mess that the president doesn't like to see Muslims detained. So much so that he released some very nasty individuals to (supposedly) secure the release of an alleged deserter. Is it possible that giving Gitmo back to Cuba was a promise made or implied?
