The Real Impact of Obamacare

As a senior citizen who has worked for the last 55 years of my life, contributed to my own retirement, paid much in taxes and believed I would benefit from the best in healthcare thanks to the vast advances in medicine and my own prudent planning, I find myself fearful of my future.

Those who have actually read the Affordable Healthcare and Patient Protection Act understand that is neither affordable nor does it provide protection for us in our vulnerable years. We will be denied services and procedures that would improve our quality of life. Hospitals are now being rewarded for spending less on the elderly. Many high ticket operations are done on people over 65. Today, 65 is hardly elderly. In fact, many of those seniors are still working. Yet, knee and hip replacements, bypass and cataract surgeries customers are mainly seniors. Medicare will pay doctors only a fraction of what they will get from Medicaid or private insurance. Hospitals will be penalized big time for re-admissions and again, patients will suffer. Let's say your mother develops pneumonia within 30 days of release from the hospital after treatment for a heart incident. That hospital or any other hospital will receive even less payment because it is considered a re-admission. The real impact of Obamacare will be hospitals who fold, Doctors who quit and patients who die or suffer needlessly from lack of care. We can pretend this isn't true but it is. I want to live my best possible life and the only way that is going to happen is to rescind the legislation and go back to the drawing board. And the only hope of saving our healthy future is to vote for Mitt Romney. Mrs. Carolyn Brown
