What’s the solution if you want to lead everyone to the left when they’re leaning to the right and want to stay where they are?
Spend decades saying the most outrageous and partisan things then when appearing before confirmation hearings refuse to answer and paraphrase one of America’s greatest philosophers, Yogi Berra saying with a straight face “I didn’t really say everything I said.” Of course there’s no concern anyone will call you on any of it since lefties have happy feelings running up their legs, righties are too polite to deliver the political show trial Justice Thomas endured, and the mainstream media’s in the tank.
This is the strategy followed by Liberal/Progressives in their multi-generational assault on the United States as established by the Framers. Looking at the record can we figure out what’s happening? The Liberal/Progressives accuse Conservatives of trying to ram their values down people’s throats. Yet, Conservatives by definition are people attempting to conserve something. What’s the truth here? As Yogi once said, “You can observe a lot just by watching.”
The Liberal/Progressives chip away at the way of life and method of government in America. Ask yourself, who campaigns for change? Who supports activist judges that legislate from the bench? Who promotes open borders, amnesty and by extension a demographic shift in the American population? Who supports a constant growth in social welfare? Who supports the ACLU and the avalanche of special interest groups constantly working to push the margins of traditional American culture over a cliff?
Who fights to expel God from school and from the public square? Who champions the burning of our flag and the banning of the pledge of allegiance? Who’s so ashamed of all the good we’ve done as a nation they feel the need to apologize to everyone in the world for being who we are? Who’s trying to cram what down where?
This has been a long march through the classrooms and court houses of America molding and shaping generations for what our social planners assure us is a better world. Yet whenever they’re under the glare of public attention they don’t boldly advocate for their Liberal/Progressive agenda. No, they equivocate and try to explain away what they’ve said by what they say. Their political arm gives them credit for what they say they said instead of what they said while media accomplices obscure the obvious meanings of words. When they stand for office they reduce individuals to classes and programs to causes.
Why is this so? Why do the Liberal/Progressives pretend to be something they aren’t? Because they know that even after generations of propagandized education and years of a near monopoly media, the majority of Americans still don’t support their radical socialization program. They know that whenever their radical social agenda is up for a vote the people vote it down. They run right and rule left pretending to be middle-of-the-road while walking on the wild side.
There’s a disconnect running through our political lives. The majority of us vote the way our parents voted. Parties like denominations become cultural edifices propped up by tradition, habit and the comfort of knowing what to do without thinking. Since the Liberal/Progressive’s education bureaucracy expelled critical thinking from school in favor of memorization and self-esteem this is a good thing in that it doesn’t require any study and no need to miss the game or Idol. Often by following our particular family tradition we vote for those who oppose everything they believe in and advocate everything we oppose. Since this is true the marathon campaigns of today brings to mind that Yogi once said, “I knew I was going to take the wrong train, so I left early.”
We’ve all cast votes we later regretted, voted for people who’ve hoodwinked us into believing they stood for one thing and then did another. We’ve voted for the lesser of two evils which makes sense until we realize evil is evil. What chance do the people who’re so busy making a living and raising their family who looks up every two to four years to cast a vote have to avoid supporting those they oppose and opposing those they support?
One weaknesses of a representative republic is that citizens elect representatives then go back to living everyday lives trusting those representatives to represent the constituent’s interests. Instead these out of sight out of mind representatives represent themselves, their friends and their party. What’s the remedy? Get informed, stay informed and hold our representatives accountable. As long as we have would-be leaders willing to use the Sotomayor solution of cover-up and confusion there’s no other way. Or as Yogi Berra also said, "If you don't know where you’re going, you’ll wind up somewhere else."
